I never said we were stopping here but almost everyone dyno's at 20-22 psi , after this is where Race Gas will come's in , I think they will take it to 25 psi.

When the gearset reaches he's buying 4 slicks and there is a 4 fogger direct shot system already in there , (40psi x 4) they are planning.

Sad thing is we dont have a Track to get an ET.

why build a drag car then if you cant run it that really sucks

I guess when it comes to tuning, I have taken a different approach. If I wanted a tune for race gas, and tuned to the edge, then I would go standalone.

But I drive my car on the street, in the real world. To keep things safe on pump gas, obviously you need to tune conservatively.

I could probably make a ton more power with a real tune, but for a pump gas tune? I just don't see the gains being there. I compare my car to others locally, and there isn't another car around here making the power I am with the turbo I have, let alone with a pump gas JWT tune. Hell, around here you have to push the 3076r to over 30psi to make 500whp. And that's about where I would be at 30psi.

On the other hand, I've seen the size of the turbo go a long way in making huge power. Particularly on a VVL engine. I would rather live with a tune that is conservative enough for a bad tank of gas, or a really hot summer day, and sacrifice the extra 15-20whp.

Standalones are sick. But hardly necessary for a street car. One day I will break 500whp on under 25psi boost, but it will be a very responsive, quick spooling setup. And I'll do it by optimizing the setup based on "theory".

Ashton this thing starts building boost around 3400 and hits 21psi around 5400, cam switch at 5000k, it hits very hard and has you rock back in the seat, a 1st gear launch on street tyres and shift to 2nd just has that feeling like all the blood just goes to your back.

If these ''Put a Calum'' guys sit down in this car they will crap their pants, I cant believe a JWT is working so well to a point that I wonder how much difference could Calum or a Stand alone make, The owners really dont want nothing beter than what they have, whats even more astonishing is the Regular Cruise Driving, with the glass up you almost cant hear the engine off boost until you floor it past say 3000, 3'' exhaust , no cat but a standard 3'' Pulsar Barrel thing to the back.

I love JWT dont matter what these guys say. Thanks for the opinions guys.

Again they are great ecus for every day driving cars. Ive never had issues with my basic ecus. My calum basic made great power, awesome driveability, 40 mpg on the highway, 35 mpg mixed, No hesitation, no sputtering, Smooth as silk powerband all the way through to 8 grand. 430whp on 20psi every day pump gas boost setting and roughly 520-550whp on 30psi on race gas. Didnt make a difference on how it drove or reacted. 11.3:1 a/f across the board wide open throttle, 740cc injectors at 4 bar, z32 maf. Never a hiccup. 15.5:1 a/f while crusing out of boost and again insane gas mileage and reliability that I didnt have to worry about.

Again im all for Standalones dont get me wrong but ive had personal experience with what a basic ecu is capable of if you have everything else in line and working well together.

I am not knocking the JWT per say. I ran a JWT nitrous ECU and I will say for it's time it was flat out amazing. Nowadays I just think that with the tunable options we have it shocks me that people still take the "off the shelf tune" route.

To me tuning is the most critical part of any setup and it seems that in that aspect it's where people cut the most corners. A tune will make or break a car

LoL I remember back in the sr20forum day to say anything about a JWT ecu was blasphemy. People would get up in arms and try to burn you at the stake.

LOL. The only other option was a factory ECU with a piggy back.

Hell I am still a SAFC fan. I remember being bashed for using one on my turbo car LOL. Car made more power than most at the time.

yeah i will say that my first t25 setup on a stock ecu with safc tuned by me, s4 cams, jdm de motor it made insane power at only 8psi of boost, ran 13.0 on street tires then 12.4 on slicks. All at 8psi. I think that more in part had to do with the n/a timing map on a turbo motor but still 8psi was plenty safe. Ran stronger than most other det setups out there on jwt's or other ecus.

But yeah we have a lot more options now a days and fairly inexpensive ones as well, full realtime ecu's for less than 500 bucks. Cant beat that.
