Couple of Avenir/DET related questions - b13
Ok so my ve build ran a bearing and I'm contemplating a DET.

I have avenir and 54c motors available. I'm leaning towards the Avenir since I want a simple reliable setup. However, I noticed the avenir has a narrow block and oil pan. Another local member who swapped this into a B13 chassis had an issue with only 2 out of the 3 of his sideshaft mounting bracket's bolts bolting up to the block. The bottom one being too far forward (due to the narrower engine block I presume)
Is this normal??

Also, I've noticed a few different Avenir motors available. The differences I saw are as follows:

Distributor. Some have the B14 style, some have the VE style and some have the external coil style.
TPS. The auto's seem to have the single plug while the manuals seem to have the 2 tps plugs.
Obviously a few variants of the turbos.

thats normal. I know miko welds a threaded bung onto the block to correct this issue. Also all of the w10 and w11 motors have 54c internals.

I didn't realize the Avenirs came w/a manual transmission. Mine came from an auto and had 2 TPS plug. I think TPS plug is based on model year. Mine had b14 dist. I think it was late model W10.

Are u serious about the 54c internals? Even the crank and bigger bearings?

As for the side shaft bracket, is the avenir one not available? I also hear the crossmember needs modification?

It has a normal de/det crank. I know the the pistons are 54c but can't remember if the rods are as well. The cross member does need to be notched or beat with a hammer. I know there are pics on the old forum of how to modify the cross member.

I think you are getting confused with the engines.

ALL avenirs are automatic from factory. W10 and W11 and all of them come with internal coil distributor - In some cases people have converted W10 Avenirs (the cars) to manual using GTiR/Bluebird/Primera driveline. But the engines don't need to be changed for this conversion.

You maybe getting mixed up with Bluebird DET engines which share the same block/head but have some different bolt on parts compared to avenir. EG dizzy, TPS, Rocker cover color & turbo rotation. U12 and U13 SR20DET bluebirds come in both Auto and manual.
