With regular SR20VE you have less chance since there its less lift and duration than SR16 cams = more valve to piston clearance....

Interesting to know. You are the first I have heard mention this. Like I say we have ran them before with no issues on standard DET pistons.

I have off the shelf DET Wiseco pistons in my motor. Regardless I planned on using standard 2.0 cams. They will get me where I need to be

ermm...
i think i remember that day! jaja
well.. payu im asking because i have rigth now both cams. 16VE and Stock sr20ve cams. i can play with that...
the reason i dont machine my piston is because i leave it on 5 machine shop including one in your town and the keep the piston over 3 or 4 weeks! and nothing! i have when machineshops do that!.

---

and for the guy who ask if the VEL head gaskwet works on 87mm piston.. yes. the fits ok the have more clearance on bore maybe VET engine have 86.5 or 87mm piston. i dont know but the have more clearance to fin on 87mm.

---
rigth now my engine its running but i dont reving it so hard for 2 reason i got a lot of missfire and im scare to my valves hit my pistons hehe.. and im considering to change my SR16VE cams to SR20VE cams to add some clear on it.

---
im asking here because i like to read diferent point of people and then i take a desicion..
in fact.. in the info i read here and other forums. the better way its to machine my pistons and add clearance, but a risky option its to put sr20ve cams and dont miss a gear.. so 3 way its keep my sr16ve cams and very risk on valve float and miss gear..

so maybe i put sr20ve cams.. i buy springs and retainers rigth now and my gears are very good i dont miss gears its very rare i miss a gear..

If you have sloppy valve guides you should be fine... Piston will push the valve out of the way then.
