Thread: Clutch options for daily driven car with t28

The oem clutch finally took a crap and now I need to find a replacement but don't really know what I should be looking at. Ultimately my goals for my b15 is about 240-250 whp but I do still want some room to grow with my next clutch in case I change up my turbo setup. I don't see me pushing more than 300 whp on this car on any setup.

From what I've seen online it seems like a Stage 2 clutch should be able to handle my needs. I just don't know which specific clutch models I should be looking at.

The most important thing for me is that since this is a daily driver I want to maintain as stock of a ride as possible, especially in terms of clutch engagement. I do realize it's not going to completely feel like a stock clutch but the closer the better.

I'm using a B15 SE disc with a South Bend PP, It has been working out great so far. Very smooth, and hasn't slipped once on my underpowered VE+T (probably at 250whp right now).

I opted out of using a light flywheel because that promoted traction loss and eating of the clutch if you don't drive it just right.

Id probably go with a clutchmasters setup as from what ive seen the pedal feel is soft but good holding power. Just get one that meets your power goals and be good.

JWT clutch is also nice, pedal feel harder than stock but not as hard as say an ACT HD or Extreme PP but has great feel.

Exedy is another good affordable clutch, kinda the same as clutchmasters stuff as far as pedal feel goes. Just dont get the multi material kevlar disk. Get a street strip disk or 6 puck sprung.

Tons of options out there. Since its a daily id chose the CM or Exedy setups before anything else and they are cheaper.

I was looking at this Exedy Stage 2 clutch but I can't find the torque ratings for it. It's not even on Exedy's website. Weird.

Had that on my 230whp/220ft-lbs Sentra. Held really well. Even though it's not rated for that high of torque. As long as you don't dump the clutch at 5k rpm from dead start you should be fine with a disk.

thats impressive man. I dont dump mine at 5k rpm either, my car gets mad wheel hop and im afraid of breaking something i usually dump about 3-4k.

if that's the case the stage 2 should be capable of handling my power numbers. I don't drive the car hard all the time but I do want the security of not having to worry if every press is going to send my clutch to the shitter.
