i drive for a living and have been driving for 15+ years. my driving is NOT a factor and resent any comments stating otherwise.

nobody is perfect but between my and by buddy who assisted in the motor swap, id like to factor out a bad install as well. nothing suggests a bad install either.

from a roll she spikes 14psi and is constant at 12psi.

now i too ran the numbers resulting an OEM style clutch. after a phone call to JWT, they use the exedy cores and re-pad them to their specs. im still not confident that this is an actual JWT clutch though. its a now discontinued extreme PP with one sided metal disk. or well, WAS!

i currently have a clutchmasters fx400 awainting some details to complete the install.

convo with JWT resulted in my sending pictures...he basically responded in an email to say i completely abused and destroyed the clutch. i am not happy as that was not the case. they apparently only have a 90 day warrenty also, so now 3 years later that is null and void. 3 years but 12,000 miles. i dont drive my car in the harsh new england winter!! 200 miles a week for work which is half 40mph, half highway...3 traffic lights in one direction the whole way. i only tracked my car on two occasions with a total of 5 pulls.

yes i built my car for performace and i did toss some abuse to her, but i dont think it was enough to result in this almost total failure IMO.

JWT's clutch with differently distributed material on each clutch face is a flawed design. Every clutch like this is a flawed design, not just JWT's.

In reference to the article. I will not disclose the vendor who sold me this clutch.

my double sided metal JWT disk did not hold up. i got maybe 2-3k out of it before the disk was shot. it has the pucks like yours on both sides. i personally would not use that style disk again.

I had that exact same problem once (worn springs, slipping clutch), with that exact same disc: I installed it backwards.

Luckily, I noticed it right away. After re-installing the correct way, it lasted for 30k miles with a T25 (250WHP, 250WTQ), a smaller T3/T04E (330whp/280WTQ) and eventually gave up the ghost after many hours of road racing at 20+psi with my current setup (462WHP, 390WTQ). I went with an ACT XD and 6 puck disk, which has held up fine.

That flywheel shows burn marks that I have never seen on a flywheel, ever, and I'm not friendly to clutches and transmissions. The smeared pucks and uneven wear further confirms my suspicion. Even if it was installed correctly, you obviously ragged on that clutch.

Quit blaming other people, and don't get mad when you destroy parts through your own actions.

Get a act clutch kit and forget it. Ive always ran acts, 155whp, 240whp, 280whp, 305whp, 400whp and im using a act on my 2.4 na ve.

Agian ive never had a clutch related issue and I drive my car harrd.

Looks like alot of hot spots. Did you do alot of back to back drag runs with it? I had an act clutch look like that in my car years ago from back to back drag runs with a launch that had alot of wheel hop and twisted both axles at the same time. Needless to say the clutch failed as well as my axles which was my fault. Burnouts on dryish pavement at the strip are very bad.

Also the spring coming out of the pressure plate is usually due to wheel hop on launches or when you can feel the car shudder or shake when you take off. If the car is doing this you either are taking off wrong or the clutch cable is not adjusted correctly. This coming from my build which has been turbo since 2000ish and a friends turbo 200sx which i also built.

I only dragged the car on two occasions, avoiding the wet box at every line up. Hot street tires just become more slick defeating any hopes for a solid launch. Otherwise, yes ofcourse I drove my car! Thats what I built it for, boost!

If the forums were like Facebook, rockwood you sir would certainly be deleted and blocked. just because you obviously had a good experience and seem to be some kind of unofficial expert on flywheels, gives you the right to disrespect me? assclowns like you are why I am rarely ever on this forum anymore. If you read all the posts here in this thread alone, you'd read you are the minority here. DO NOT tell me how I drove my car when you never sat shotgun. I've explained my driving habits, contradict If you will. IMO, this clutch was a pile of shit and is OBVIOUS why jwt doesnt make it anymore!

As far as I'm concerned, this thread should have consisted of posts #1 and #12.

That is certainly another viable explanation.

It could be that you built a turbo car to drive it hard and did. You took it to the track a couple of times....AND that clutch is a peice of shit.
