it has the spot on the block where it's suppose to go...so why not use it lol

I believe most other companys like honda and such just use the oil pan though, correct me if im wrong.

Not a good idea to tap the pan on the SR20.

Honda owners do it because of the height of the oil pan. In an SR20, the oil level in the pan can prevent proper oil evacuation from the turbine.

Not saying it can't be done, as some members of the community have tapped the pan. Personally, though, I'd do it right, or not at all.

Here you go.

Start small.

Get bigger.

Use lots of cutting oil while drilling and tapping. Go slowly. Towards the end it will be very hard to turn the tap.

Tada!

Hope that helps.

ok this is where i'm at. How exactly did you connect your coolant lines to the turbo? Just cut the banjo's off the hard lines and use a hose clamp to connect to them?? and also where should the supply line for the oil come from? Any need for a restrictor or anything also?

Make sure if you do it this way "factory" you take your time and do it correctly, If you wanted to tap the pan, everyone has their own opinions on doing it, but I have ran two cars with the oil pan tap without any issues both for over 1 year. VW's do them into the pan factory, when someone on this forum tells you that you can't tap the oil pan for the oil return they are wrong, you can and it does work. I'm so sick and tired of everyone on this forum saying to only do things one way or don't do it, or only certains parts... This obviously isn't true with many others running it through the pan. Quicker, cheaper, and just as efficient.

what size hose barb did you use? 5/8"? I got the barb figured out but the biggest tap i have is 1/2". Would it be possible to step it down? I didn't know if it would be ok to go from the larger fitting to a smaller one, i thought it might restrict it too much.
