I'd say its about $100 too much for the product you're getting. Look anywhere else and see about the price of an 02 housing

see the problem is your comparing it to cars with a lot more demand than ours, theres a lot more options on the martket for those cars. turbofx is the only one I can think of at the moment for ours and their work is amazing i think 300 is fair for their product.

All of those are way easier to fabricate the fwd sr j-pipes, I would hope they cost less! With out cutting corners, these parts take a lot of time to build. I do plan on building a less expensive 02 housing/j pipe, but it will require our matching downpipe since the flange will not be in the stock location.

Yep, every single one of those O2 housings are made with off the shelf bends, and/or Chinese labor, and/or Chinese pot metal, and/or castings with high volume sales to make up the initial cost.

None of them deal with the tight constraints we have to deal with in our engine bay and stock routing. And if they do, they are a cast piece. Good luck getting someone to cast a piece for our volume of sales. =(

Hey! function over looks

Those guys did have a lot of limitations to be fair. I would not envy them having to deal with all of that A/C BS and pre existing downpipe limitations. And if they made these things 4-5 years ago I might bought one too. And +1 for them making products for our cars and supporting the forum too.

I have been speaking with Javier about the new piece, and I just pulled the trigger I bought the GTI-R bellmouth piece. I should have it next week. Ive got a new intake manifold, new external wastegate setup, and the new jpipe going on, so it should make for a real kick in the pants over my last dyno I will definitely be posting up my thoughts/pics/dyno when I get it on the car.

Thanks to explanations of Benfenner ( much appreciated) I understand why turbofx did it the way they did. But if it could have been achieved a different way, AND saved us money. THEN WHO CARES! I DONT like the way their product looks. I understand that at this time $300 is the only way they can make profit. $300 IS too much to pay for an external dump. Just because some one comes along and makes a product doesnt mean it has been perfected. Or that there arent design flaws. And you say mass producing? I'm sure the other vendors who went out of business didn't do so because someone made a post questioning their design. It's just that. A BUSINESS!! I'm sure theyre not going to stop making products because I hurt their feelings by questioning the product!

hey i never said he perfected it, but its the BEST we have to offer, if you dont support it the price will never go down, thats basic economics, Supply and Demand, which is why i vented earlier because this community NEVER supports the people who take time out to make products for us.

The reason other cars have cheaper products is simple supply and demand, the companies KNOW that they will move x amount of parts so its worth their time to build, i honestly dont know if this is worth javiers time to build because the quantity that will be sold. If you look at javiers thread you will see the amount of time he spent to build this ensuring that it will clear your ac compressor making various versions to ensure that customers are happy with the fitment and ease of installation. That is research and development and thats what makes the difference between quality parts and crappy parts. I have no issue if you think the price is high and looking to bargain else where, because i am not rich and if i had a t2 turbo i probably wouldnt be able to afford it my self, but, there is no way in hell i would try to say its an inferior product or that its too much money for what its worth.

Forced Compression you are confusing fitment with quality, performance and cost for performance. One doesn't make the others. Just because something fits doesn't mean it flows the best and so on. No ones is putting down TurboFx's build quality such as the quality of welds, just acknowledging that the piece is a compromise in design to work across multiple platforms. It is not derogatory at all.

Stupid noob question. You need something like this to run an external wastegate? You cannot run one of a stock cast manifold/jpipe like a gtir or avenir? ive seen people claiming too so not 100% sure. Thx
