you have any exhaust leaks also on the turbo to dp or the turbo flange.???? made mine feel a little lazy when i blew the gasket out.

gas mileage on low cams I would imagine to be pretty negligible between styles. The VET cams netted me 30+ mpg on freeway driving pretty easily. Remember, the ex side is basically open all the time, but intake is on the small lobe. I dont get very good mileage from my SR16 tubular setup. With the 6 speed I get about 22 mpg, but considering how I drive it most the time, its to be expected. 320whp is pretty close to that of a GTO, (10 psi) and I bet if I kept my foot out of it I could see 26-28mpg. The ethanol fuels we run up here kill gas mileage pretty bad. Usually 2-4 mpg lost.

I still believe this will be a power loss factor even when he gets that leak issue sorted out, It happened with us.

It is now! I had to fight keeping my neck/head from leaning forward in second gear on a wet road. Did not loose traction for a second, first gear lights up the tires though.

Not that I can see or hear, there might be one after the cat though.

20V (I had the VET confused with 20V) low lobes are like regular DE cams, so the gas mileage would be marginally better then DE (because of better VE head flow). But otherwise it's pointless . I think I'll try to either fab up or get a custom made tubular manifold that fits my piping.

Also I netted 34mpg on the highway with the current setup.

Some may know my setup, but let me tell you in case you don't know.

GT3076r .63
Protech log
Made 268whp on 16psi.

GT3076r .63 with VET cams
Protech log
Made 359whp on 16psi.

You can see the results by looking at my old threads. I have no hope for a log mani on a VVL without low-overlap cams. It works... just not very effectively. A DE is likely to be much faster with S4 cams. Take 20* of overlap out, and its an entirely different story.

I went to the extreme. I got a twinscroll manifold with a divided housing turbo. Even with a super-restrictive 1.06 T3 housing, it spools so fast the turbo surges WITH a ported shroud. Its so brutal when the VVL kicks, the tach would sweep from 5k to 8800rpm in .5 seconds. Open housing would probably make even more power up top, TS housings are restrictive. Yet I was able to pull ~480whp on 26psi (still very low for the turbo size). I think it would make 500whp on 22psi with a .82 open housing. The VVL just hates backpressure.

i am totally intrigued by your setup... how do you thing the TS manifold would work with the 20v cams...

Glad you are progressing Vadim. I love the 50trim on my VE-T, hit full boost just around 4k or a little earlier. Btw 24degrees timing seems like a lot, usually I have seen them at 22 the most. Good luck.

I'm still spooling way later, but now when it hits it hits much harder. I'm working on turning down the timing as I drive it too, thing is since my boost goes down to 7 psi, I'm not even in the last column, so haven't hit it while driving to know if it knocks or not.

Also Vadim I had the wastegate signal coming off from the compressor housing and the boost gauge on the intake manifold, car would boost 6psi and drop off to 5 psi by redline. I then changed the wastegate signal to the intake manifold, boost was rock solid at 8psi all the way through the rev range, car felt much much faster. Looks like the pressure drop was the culprit. Just an fyi.
