I talked to ARP and they said that the old style headstuds were replaced by new ones. SAME PART #. The new studs cost about $180-200 compared to the older ones being about $150. The guy at ARP said they are redesigned units that are supposed to cure any issues the old ones had. I called up Greg V and he has them or can get them. I will see if he can send me pics of the new studs and I will put some pics of my old ARPs up.

I will post pics tomorrow of the newly designed head studs..... I can see the shank of the stud is different but Im sure what was actually improved???? Hopefully I did not just waste money on these and that the issues were addressed

^This is what everbody is waiting on. Before and after pics should do the trick. Now my question is, what are they going to do with the old style they have left over? Nobody should want to run them, but what if they ship them out instead of NEW design?

I had asked Greg to look them over, and maybe snap a pic. If he just ships them out to me instead, I'll shoot a pic next to the old ARP headstud for comparison. Greg's understanding from ARP was that they used a stronger material. He wasn't sure if they actually changed how they seat.

Only time will tell

I am suppose to be getting a new set this week as well. I purchased a seto f studs and rod bolts off a guy on here and he sent the headstuds back to ARP as they told him to send them back for the new replacements. Hopefully I will get them and take some pics as well. I also have a set of the old ones, wondering what to do with them. I may use them on my not so powerful second engine.

I'd love to use my current set of ARP headstuds, however they were bent during shipment of the shortblock. Guess you could say that they were the block's saving grace, to prevent damage to the motor itself.

They are thinner in the shank than the old ARP studs so Yeah hopefully it is a m,uch stronger material because it does not look like they seat themselves any differently....
