sweet . but it kinda makes me wonder why arp would not offer this info as a way to fix the sr20 problem.

i am definatlly ordering the golden eagle studs if there is a clearance prob im not afraid of cutin em.

I just measured my arp headstuds and they went all the way to the end of the threads. They don't bottom out on the block, but they went all the way down the threads. I threaded the arp in all the way with the head off. Then I marked where the deck was on the stud. Then I got a steel rod and stuck it down the hole next to it. I marked the rod and pulled them both out.

I measured from the top of the threads to the bottom of the hole and I got the exact same measurement for thread size on the arp.

But some of you guys don't have them take up all the threads? That's wierd. Both my VE blocks only have a lil over 1" of threads and the arp has a lil over 1" as well.

Looks good to me.

I guess I should add that the new studs say ARP 2000 on the top, the old ones must have been the 175-180k strength.

Also, the new studs are torqued down to 105 lbft instead of the old one's 80?lbft

Anybody know the choices I have for my gti-r besides cosworth and arp? And anybody know where I can get cosworths at a decent price?

$210 is the price ive seen for the cosworths and that would be my choice for the gtir motor.

^What about a regular DE? jus-det-luv said he would just take his chances with OEM over ARP. Would this be the same for VE vs ARP?

ok i measures this yesterday as there has been much discussion on the issue

keep in mind this was a rwd block. I am unsure is the are different to the fwd, or even if there is a difference between de or ve. However i assume they are all the same.

the holes in the block all vary, from around 82mm up to 91 or something, anyway they are all different. However they all have the same amount of threads, so each hole has 45mm of thread. On the oem bolts most the threads are not actually used.

Now the arp's i have are the new tensile ones. The threaded section Measures in at 30mm. So there is 15mm of unused block thread.

So the extent of the difference from the pictures posted means jack, as the other studs can have double the threads but only 45mm will be used which is 15mm more than the arp's that i measured. If anyone has different measurements for the arp's i would love to see them.

So from this i have concluded that the arp's are better than standard, but not quite as good as the greedy or tomei studs. But for the cash of those i would rather 1/2 inches.

^I'm glad you said greedy, because I remember somebody else in this thread saying they were better. Their out of business now though right?
