21.7 boost leak wouldn't affect vacuum.

Thanks

A boost leak test will be carried out shortly. I will update this thread as tasks are performed

UPDATE:

So I just went out and checked the voltage on both the TPS sensor and MAF and below are the resutls

MAF (N62 MAF):
When warmed up the MAF under idle read circa 1.3 Volts. When free revving to 4000rpm, it went up to circa 2.2-2.3 Volts (I am not certain if the high range voltage is correct though as the manual just said at 4000 rpm, the voltage should be 4.0Volts?? Hmmmmm, this be an issue??)

TPS:
With the key in the on position in the ignition, the TPS read 0.49 Volts. Under WOT it only read a max of 3.2 Volts?? The writeup on SE-R.net said under WOT conditions, it should be 4V. Hmmmm, could this also be an issue??

If anyone has any insight on the above, please let me know.

Either way, next on the list is Wideband and Boost pipes.

Not going to see that kind of voltage out of an N62 just free-revving it. The manual is for a stock 53J MAF, NA.

Adjust your TPS.

Check for a boost leak?

TPS was adjusted to .53V, but still only read 3.3V at WOT, odd. Either way, at idle, the TPS was well within spec BEFORE adjustment.

As far as the MAF is concerned, that is exactly what I was thinking: free revving does not introduce the amount of air as compared to going through the RPM range when under load. So I am figuring the MAF is well within spec as well

Boost leak checks are next on my list when the piping is redone

TPS is bad, replace it.

N62 MAF will go up to 5.0V

The TPS I think should read about 4.20 or so under full throttle. You can check this w/Consult and the car in the 'start' position with the car off. Just push down the throttle and check the voltage.

Make sure your throttle body is fully opening and such and throttle cable not loose.

^^^good suggestions, also check your throttle cable linkage to make sure there's not too much slack or something under the pedal preventing WOT.

UPDATE:

Well, after thinking it through, I am lead to believe the TPS sensor was/is NOT bad. I just couldn't relate the ecu vs Throttle position would lead to a phantom rev limit (if someone else has any input on this thought, just to make sure I am correct in my thinking, please let it be known). To confirm this belief I purchased one against my better judgement and installed and wouldn't you know it, the same issue is present. It just didn't make sense to me since it checked out according the the FSM and SE-R.net. So rule out TPS. Also, throttle linkage, etc has been checked and double checked as well for issues concerning bind, and they check out fine.

Also, within this same breath, I am ruling out the MAF for now until I get proper wideband readings, simple

At this point, it feels like its running out of fuel which is odd as there should be a warlboro 255 and RC 550cc injectors........so it should NOT be running out of fuel at only 7-8psi at 5000 rpm (unless the pump is on its was out). A wideband will be going on in the next few days (today I was time limited and only got the the TPS sensor) and I am pretty sure it will give me very vital information. Also, I will revert to old school train of thought and be removing the spark plugs one by one and checking to see if its running lean (white tip) or rich (dark, black sooth, tip). That will probably also help me in my direction

Can anyone else make any other suggestions in the meantime?? This problem WILL be resolved, period.

Thanks

Correct me if I'm wrong but wouldn't the TPS not showing more than 4volts not ever let the ecu go into open-loop? You may try re-setting the self learn using a consult or cable. Also, fuel pressure would be nice too. You may have already mentioned but what fuel system setup do you have?

Ps was your new TPS voltage within spec?
