wow, when you pmd me about the main bearing issue it definitely appeared damaged But man that actually looks like the top bearing spun without breaking the tab on the bearing first and did some major damage to block. Yeah your block is donefore dude. Not even a line hone would take care of that. Your part on the block that is supposed to keep the bearing that sits onto the main cap in place is now gone. No way to repair that. That some bad luck right there. It definitely starved of oil and took quite a hit on that bearing to do that kind of damage.

Ive seen oil starved sr's before where the pan was smashed up and getting zero oil pressure and spun every rod bearing and the mains still were in almost perfect shape and didnt spin at all. Sr's rarely spin main bearings.

That sucks dude. Definitely gonna need a new block

Yep, agree with Ashton here. Block is done for, no repairing that. Today I just ran into an odd issue with an engine that was rebuilt by a reputable business a couple years ago, the engine maybe had 2K on it, the crankshaft was bowed in the middle and then stress cracks were forming on the 2nd and 4th main journals that are inline with the casting mark that runs from the front of the crank to the rear. Never saw a crankshaft actually crack on an SR20, but appearantly, they can if you leave it stored incorrectly long enough and throw in an engine and force it to turn over. Needless to say, its a small setback, so now, more bearings to be ordered with a different GOOD crankshaft. Engine had zero rod knock either, all rod bearings were fine, and mains did not spin at all, just wore odd.

David- A lot of people say to not store a cranshaft on its side but ive yet to run into problems with the ones ive used that have been sitting on their sides for years. I would say as long as its resting on all the counterweights to where the weight is being distributed evenly you would be fine. Now if you had it resting on something in the middle of the crankshaft to where it wasnt laying flat then yeah i could see over time it slightly tweeking and in reality thats all it takes. Most would say to store it standing up and ill agree thats the best way to do it for long periods of time.

Ya I dunno how it was stored, but some how it definately got warped badly, I watched the dial indicator move out of the specified deflection range, and also the cracks don't do it any good either.

Good luck with it. Sucks to hear about the shady mechanics the motor came from.

That happened to my block too 2 of them lol! thats what happens when you rev a stock bottom end VVL to >9.5krpm... 1st time I was on the dyno, no rev limit, over rev... Cant remember how the second one happened... hmm
