Thread: Using S15 GT28R with RWD housings... I HAVE DONE IT!!!

My fab skillz are that of a 4 year old playing with kenix, not that great. I either have no vision of a fabricated piece or what... but I got it to work exactly like it should. It doesn't even get close to hitting the block or manifold, and the rod length I used would was the same as the T25 since I knew someone would want to get one some day. It's made out of a single piece of thick steel that won't bend the slightest when the wastegate is actuated. Its designed to use the stock length FWD T25 wastegate, or the HKS T28 actuator, (which I'm using) It bolts onto the compressor housing where the RWD one bolts to as well, and the turbo is clocked in the upwards position like the factory GTIR is. The one I have is a prototype, but it'll get put on a CNC plasma table and get cut out and bent the way it needs to be so it's an easy bolt on affair. I forgot to take my camera to my shop today, but tomorrow I will have great pics of the piece and please PM me if you'd like one or intrested in getting one. I searched and high and low, and no one had a design that I could see working with FWD, it would still hit the block or the block crankcase vent tube. Please give me encouragement to offer these to the forum and go through with the order, I just need PMs. FYI most wastegate brackets are like $25-35, or so. No raping here, just a quick way to get more people to use the S15 turbo on their setups once their T25 has worn out.

Some pics would be cool. My buddy is using an s14 turbo on his nx but yeah he had to do some grinding to get it to clear the block. Only thing really hitting the block though like you said was the wastegate because we had to crooked mount the wastegate on there and mount with one bolt without binding it. A better wastegate mounting provision would have made it clear no problem and allowed a better position of the compressor outlet

I put a S15 turbo on my car like eight years ago. Ran great then I bought another one and got it upgraded and made good HP with it.

I ran an s15 turbo on my car after the t25. Had it mounted rwd setup, tubular manifold, 3" greddy downpipe open and at 10psi it ran harder than my t25 did at 19psi. Loved that turbo and spooled insanely fast and kept holding power all the way to 8k unlike the t25. Never got to run that setup at the track but no doubt it would have gone 11's for sure. Ended up upping the boost and went too many cranks on the manual boost controller and hit 25psi or so and cracked a ring land on the motor. After that I was done with t2's and went to the t3. Loved that turbo though. Definitely made great power and got it for $250 bucks. Cant beat that.

Please post some pics when you get the chance. This could be a great low budget option to replace the lowly t25.

They're doing construction right at the entrance to my shop location, they dug a 20 foot hole right across the road, so hopefully tomorrow it'll be cleared up. Damn HWY35 construction ruining my day, plus the rainy weather we have had delays the finishing even longer.

This is just the prototype, hardest thing was getting the measurements for the holes to be in the right place.

I ran s15 turbo on one my of cars 5 years ago and used a jgy gt28rs bracket. Just needed to drill a extra set of holes. Looks like you made a cheap solution for a fun turbo.
