pb blaster and a rubber mallet will help clock the turbo. You may also get lucky and the housing will move freely when you loosen the bolts.

on that turbo im almost certain the compressor side is held on by a big snap ring if you loosen the bolts on the exhaust side your going to change the angle the oil comes in and out, it might not be a bad idea for you because you only need to move it a little.

the correct way to do it is to get a big snap ring plier and squeeze the snap ring ( wouldnt remove it because its a pita to put back in) once snap ring is compressed ease the compressor housing up a little.

but if your turbo is fairly new or recently rebuilt, hose it down with some pb blast and tap it with a rubber mallet like some one said above and inch it up. the reason i prefer this method is because that snap ring is a pita to get back in if it accidentally slips out the grove esp with the turbo on the car.

You need snap ring plyers (THE BIGGER THE BETTER).

You do not need to remove the compressor housing. Simply unbolt the bolts. Remove the snap ring or at least get it half way off and it should turn. Then put the snap ring back in (it's not the easiest thing to do) and put the bolts back in.

Disconnect the wastegate arm, and use big ass snap ring pliers to slack the snap ring. That is likely they only way you can rotate the compressor housing.

what turbo is it? I don't recall if my T25 had any compressor housing bolts. I think it was just held on by the snap ring?? Usually you can get that mofo to move w/just some force or gentle 'tapping' with a hammer(snap ring only turbos..not recommended for turbos w/compressor housing bolts). It usually will move and you only need to move it a bit to clear that dogbone it seems.

My suggestion: I'd mount it up, get under there w/something to put against a strategic point on the housing and use a hammer to rotate the housing a little out of the way of that dogbone. If you give it a decent medium hit or two and if it doesn't move at all then you're probably best loosening the snap ring or using PB blaster as suggested above.

Yeah it's gotta have a snap ring, it's a bitch dude. But much easier if ya do it with the turbo in a vice. I spray some lube on the snap ring and tap with a screw driver to loosen it, you can move the comp housing a little with it still in there, but it does take some muscle. Good luck.
