Got to the headgasket...

What does it mean for part of it to be silver and the other part black? is the silver where it was not sealing correctly?

Its metal..multilayer. Dont know the brand. I didnt install it.

i know this thread is a little old but had to share my sadness
i will be doing a headgasket as well....thinking about using the ve gasket and tho's mazworks head studs look real nice too

might just talk my buddie out of the det she's had sitting around....prolly get it for 5-6 hundred bucks

in the same boat.
just read the whole thread and saw the vid (thanks for that)..Im having all the same over heating symptoms,Resevior boiling,pressure coming out when rad cap is removed,no coolant in the oil,removed t-stat(nismo)& bled the coolant system more than once.. thanks to all on this thread for the info.

yeah man. Im just happy to have to be rid of all those issues.

Now my coolant temp stays b/t 181-188 driving. and low 190s sitting.

Yeah I just finished purchasing the last few bits of parts today for my vet build.
so the DET will be coming out soon and will be getting refreshed and put away as a spare motor just in case..

i'll also be following you lead with the temp gauge in the dash....i even have the exact same gauge....LOL....my car came with it tho

and this is a super informative thread....if it wasn't for this thread i might still not be 100% sure my headgasket is toast....if i keep the overflow full it doesn't overheat....just under hard boost does it act up

so thanks for all the great info and input
