Thread: Boiling coolant

Did reading and im sure its either the t-stat or the headgasket.
And after a quick romp to and from town.
Got back and my coolant was boiling.

I checked the t-stat (it slowly opened in boiling water)
And i changed the turbo coolant line
It had a "skinny" spot in it,
would that of caused it to boil the coolant, since the flow would be slowed?

my coolant always boils in the turbo lines lol. On hot days anyways.

does it push coolant out the reservior?

Only when it gets really hot. But I have golden eagle head studs so I don't think the head is lifting or the gasket is blown.

well if that coolant line doesnt help, then ill have to assume its the head gasket

What is your coolant temp getting to?

What radiator and fans are you using? Going through town are you sitting at long stoplights a lot?

Mine hits 230F at long ass stoplights. But its also 100F outside

Dont know temp for sure, i only have the oem dummy gauge.

twin 10" or 12" fans (cant remember) from an online store.
They still work, I see and hear them. I can even feel the hot air from my window when im sitting still.

but when i got home it was boiling. I had been driving and hadnt been at a stoplight in 10+ mins.

Just change your thermostat and reseal it.
This recently happened to me and even though the t stat I had seemed to work fine, I changed it out, took out the radiator and pressure washed it ot from both sides and straightened all the fins I could and it has never happened again. Plus I took the opportunity to upgrade to a nismo t stat. Car runs cold as hell now my temp doesn't even get to the halfway mark. Driving on the highway my temp gauge fluctuates from(by the way I have a NX digi cluster so my gauge is in bars lol)..

Couldnt order a nismo t-stat, they are on back order right now.
