As far as oil weight, Ive never had problems with mobil 1 15w50. The heavier weight would protect the bearings better regardless. This wasnt an oil problem. lol. Ive always used mobil 1 and my bearings have always looked fresh as can be. The bearings i pulled out of my old motor with 16k miles of absolute torture looked brand new still. No wear at all.

Also another thing im going to do when i put it back together is get the HX series ACL's they are a bit harder and have .001" extra oil clearance. This is what the big honda boys use on their motors. Figured id give the looser bearing clearances a shot.

I just figured it would help with oil pump gear problems. I've seen a few shatter when really heavy weights are used at really high rpm. The bypass gets flooded and backed up, pressure spikes, then boom.

Yeah, didnt experience any spiking at all with the high revs. At least not to 9800 rpm. We were watching the oil pressure during the dyno pulls and once fully warmed up the oil pressure would be at about 80-90psi at high rpm, 25psi at idle, 40-50 by 3500, then it would get to just above 100psi just before vvl and then drop to 80-90psi the rest of the way.

Hmmm, so strange it would blow up.

Again didnt really blow up, the gear teeth had some pitting on them and wear on the housing. Again not sure if it was caused due to the harmonics or what. Just know it either lost oil pressure or pressure dropped extremely low. Ive never seen bearings that dry when pulling a motor apart. They were dry enough to where when i finally got the #3 rod off the crank still had trouble turning freely due to the dry bearings.

One thing im going to do also is run cleaner, solvent, and compressed air through the oil passages to clear out any debris that may be in there from the bearings, cuz it was throughout the motor. Both the block and the head.

Wow wish I had 60,000 for just a gearbox.. bet my car would go faster then 9s

Trinidad and Tobago's Newsday : newsday.co.tt :

Questioned what does it cost to build such a powerful and fast machine, Ali explained that price does not come into the equation when one is racing at his level.

“When you’re doing it at this level, cost doesn’t matter. A simple gearbox can cost up to $60,000,” he revealed.
