ok, so on the road to 800 wheel, 2 confirmed weak links: wg spring and oil pump. on the bright side, fix those 2 plus the collateral damage and you are right back in the fight, knowing the rest is solid.

I'll admit, Shannon is pretty cool. Mine would have left me a long time ago, like 10 years ago when Ashton had the red SE-R lol. She doesn't get into my hobbies much.

Finishing up pulling the engine and tearing it apart in the morning. Hoping for the best that the block and rods wont be damaged from the spun bearings. I hope the brunt of the damage was to the crank. Trying to turn the motor over by hand it definitely feels like the main bearings are dry.

Hey Ashton Im so sorry to see that happen to ya bud. I know you won't give up keep on chugging along, now that this has happened what are your thoughts on a dry sump setup? I know it will a wee bit difficult since there isnt much room under our cars between harmonic balancer and frame rail. Good luck on everything brotha hope the best for ya.

Yeah i think its more the main bearings than anything, these rods are insanely tough and it didnt run for long after the pressure loss and when I felt the initial bog. Its the block that im most worried about. Just dont want these tough acls to have dug into the aluminum main journals of the block. That would not be good.

Im not going to dry sump the oiling system. Im going to get an ATI Balancer and keep the revs at 9600 max to hopefully keep this from happening again. If I have to I might go with a 6768 to help bring in power sooner yet still hold power to 9600.

Yeah, if its any more than minor scuffing the block would have to be line honed and machined, which means tearing it completely apart.

Issue is this turbo wants more revs. At 9800 the power was still sitting at peak and still going. This turbo would love to see 10.5k or so but thats more stress on the motor internally. And to make it more reliable to those revs requires some serious cash such as the dry sump/external oil pump and so on. So better idea is to just move power down in the powerband with a smaller turbine housing turbo. Or just make more power with this while still keeping the revs down but that still leaves me with somewhat of a short powerband.

We will see where I will go from here once i inspect the damage.

I really hope this isn't the case. Those ACL's are hard. If the block is toast, and I hope it isn't, will you consider going back to your original plan of a stock sleeved block?

Also, I like the sound of the ATI damper, it would be a good combo with a knife-edged 8 CWC. Knife-edging would lower the moment of inertia on the crank as well as get it closer to the weight of an OEM 4 CWC yet still give you the benefits of full CW's. Might help with the spool of the big turbo as well, maybe. But, fingers crossed for the Maz block!
