I think the 6 speed trans will take the abuse for a while. I did 8 passes at over 600whp for sure. Again this is just based on injector duty, trap speed, boost pressure for the size turbo im running and its capabilities. Im thinking more in the 650whp range and it took it no problem. Not just those 8 passes on slicks at the track but the countless tuning bursts on the street, some of which went through 5th and some of 6th gear at over 160mph because 6th gear was the only gear i could get traction in on street tires at over 34psi of boost. Even 5th just spun like it wasnt there to well over 160mph. Soo far the 6 speed mixed with the 85w140 valvoline oil seems to be doing the trick. Not a sign of trans problems soo far.

I think it has the capability to hold the power. So does mazworx and so does all the others using it for big power.

plus if you break it you can upgrade gears from the evo trans. they make billet replacements for 3rd, 4th and 5th. the MR six speed trans is the same as the spec V.

Yeah i remember you talking about that. How strong are those billet replacement gears. How much have they been known to hold?

Also got to think how heavy an evo it is and how much power they are pushing even through a stock gearbox. A guy i raced in phoenix at the track was making over 700awhp through his stock box. He wheel hopped a bit in 2nd gear and ended up just chipping a tooth in his gearbox. His was an MR as well. They definitely hold up to some power. Im assuming the billet replacements are helical gears just like the stock ones correct?

Question for you guys using the Supertech springs and retainers set. Im planning on reving this motor out to probably no less than 9500 rpm maybe even 10k depending on where power is wanting to peak at. If its holding out or still rising at 9500 ill probably stop at 10k. Question is are most of you using the 100 lb seat pressure or 130 lb seat pressure set of Supertechs. Im thinking if im gonna go to that rpm i might need the 130 lb seat pressure springs but i also dont want to have too much pressure as well as in alot of cases its just a waste and puts extra stress on the cam lobes and valves themselves.

I also plan on going to the Crower I-beam rods as well rated for 1000 hp just to be safe. Ive seen the Eagle rods pushed to around 1000 whp but the I-beams have a better design for high load applications and alot more material that makes up the rod but weighs the same as the H-beam or close to it due to the material its made out of. So my bottom end should be fine for the revs. Mainly need input on the springs and retainers.

I'm running the 130lb springs but I only rev to 8500. I took it past 9000 before I installed the 6al box with no issues. I believe Mazworx revved their S15 to 11,000 with them.

Also, I tried the 85w140 in my B15 box and so far it's holding up nice and the shifts are smooth, even third gear.

I told you guys. haha everyone that has used it loves the crap out of it. Yeah im thinking the 130 lb springs. I was reading on honda-tech and all the people reving to 10k or higher are using the heavy springs.

I run the lower Supertechs and stock retainers. I have taken mine to 9k ish a number of times.
