Just measured the VE and DET exhaust ports

VE is 42.24mm x 28.84mm
DET is 41.95mm x 29.01mm

They are basically identical, the small differences are probably because of my cheap digital caliper.

Measured the DET flange that I have, and that's 30.92mm tall. I have to widen them to 36mm in order to clear the exhaust ports.

what was the backspacing on your rims if you dont mind me asking. trying to get some idea of what i may need for a similar setup?

Staying 86mm stock bore. Leaving as much wall and keeping it as simple as possible. Leaves room down the road if I want to bore it out. But a high reving 10k 2.0L will do just fine. lol.

Backspacing on the wheels are 5". They clear my coilovers just fine with no spacer at all. They clear stock breaks with no spacer at all. Like I said the only thing hitting is the bead lock screw heads hitting the top of the knuckle where the bottom of the strut bolts onto. Ive got some 5mm spacers to take care of that. They fit very nicely and might even clear nx brakes as well by the looks of them.

Block is getting sent to mazworx hopefully tomorrow. Cant wait.

Thanks Vadim. So it is the fact the ve ports are approximately 1/16-1/8" higher than the de's The de's ports seem to line up with an even amount of space between the gasket and the edge of the port. So id say 1/16" or so is fairly accurate. So depending on the flange you get and from what company you may have to do a lot of porting on both the flange and the head to get a perfectly port matched exhaust side. Luckily for me my de flange already has pretty large ports on it. Makes my life easier.

The DE flange I got is for RWD DET, the ports seem to be fairly small. Since I will be using sch10 weld el's I can't just cut bigger holes (the weld el's wont seal all of the way). So I have to basically grind a hole that's 36mm high at the head and leave it at 31mm where the weld el's would be.

Good thing I just got a die grinder for my compressor. Doing this with a dremel would have been impossible.

Yeah im definitely gonna get myself an pneumatic die grinder. I do all my porting with a course porting bit on a high speed drill. Still not fast enough and still takes forever. Dremel.....Forget about it. Tried for about 2 minutes and was like screw this.

Pneumatic with my porting bit should do wonders on speeding up the process. I just need to get a nice polishing bit or sandstone bit to get a nice polished finish.

The mazworx flange is a nice piece. It is slotted so it can be used on either engine and it has a cut-out for the 1 1/2 sch10 pipe to fit into, which makes life a lot easier. It also has a nice transition from oval to round. The price is good too. I just bought two more for some stuff I want to try.

honestly Ashton, I personally just removed the casting on both the intake and exhaust ports, left the intake side at an 80grit finish and polished the exhaust...I wouldn't really mess with port sizes, just knife edge the divider in the runner and try not to remove to much material unless you can flow it accurately...the flow characteristics and head design is almost perfect in stock configuration, so I'd leave it alone to tell you the truth...so as i stated before, very minor work is needed, just remove the casting.
