Your not sending the head to them to open up the combustion chambers?

No, block is staying at 86mm standard bore. Im having it resurfaced and drilled for the 1/2" studs locally as well as the spring and retainer install. Ill do the port matching and slight port work myself as i usually do.

DE exhaust valves are also bigger then VE's. Not exactly sure why VE went the smaller route .

I'm having a tough time getting my RWD DE flange to fit on the VE. I have to cut away about 2-3mm of the flange so that it doesn't block the exhaust runners. On the bright side, having a much bigger flange opening then what the runners are should help as an anti-reversion step.

Yeah i know they have smaller exhaust valves but from what people were saying its looking more like a port size thing than alignment. Basicly if I stuck this de flanged manifold on the ve head the port of the ve head wouldnt be blocked at all. The bottom of the head ports would not even reach the bottom of the manifolds port. The top down to the middle lines up with the gasket almost perfectly.

Oh well, ill open up the ve port to match the gasket and fix any imperfections on the de flange to where it matches the gasket and should be good to go. Nothing wrong with opening up bottom of the ve port more. When it comes to turbo, the more the marrier.

ive allways read that the ports where the same size just located slighly higher on the head...

Ill have him fit the same gasket to the stock port de head i have laying in my garage and see if maybe the opposite occurs such as the bottom of the de port lining up with the gasket but the upper part stopping short. Again i dont know if this flange was ported out or cut larger than the normal de ports so its hard to base it off that. All I can tell you is the de multilayer gasket i have matches up with the manifold ports almost perfectly with really no need to port match the flange itself maybe other than some slight cleanup but not like against the ve head was.

Ill have my buddy take some pics of it on the de head to see the comparison. If the port is pretty close or even then the de in fact has a larger port.

I believe the ports are the same size. When I was biulding my manifold I used a DET engine to mock everything up with the Mazworx flange. You have to raise it up to match the VE head and leave it down for the DE. Seemed as if the port were the same size just in a different location. That gasket looks like it was made with bigger port holes.

Yeah so i imagine my manifold was made with larger or port matched ports already then being how close they are matched to the gasket. Ill just end up porting the crap out of the exhaust side of the ve head to match. It looks to be a good 1/8th inch of material possibly at the bottom of the port to be removed to match the manifold. No biggie. I have a nice porting bit that can take care of that since i planned to clean up the ports anyways.

Intake side will get the same treatment as far as port matching and casting removal. A good days worth of work on the head and it should do pretty well.

that's what i was talking bout just couldn't remember specifics. and alot of things have been made with the bigger ports it seems cause of the differences. think about the ssac 2.5 it has the bigger ports so it fits the ve and de without porting anything.
