Post up pics of inside of pump? Any discolor, etc, etc? Seems odd it would be seized with no signs.

Also... Send to me and I'll check the gears out, etc. Really curious what happened.

Holy warped bearing, Batman!

At least it is not as bad as it could have been!

What did the pump look like?

No discoloration but there is some wear on the housing and gear. Again ill have to look closer at it. All I know is that it wasnt turning over like it should.

That's weird. The pump normally shatters when it fails. You should check the pick up and see if it was clogged or something.

Pickup was fine other than a couple bearing pieces in it. The gear just doesnt spin freely as it should.

Sorry to hear about the damages, but at least it wasn't catastrophic. I know you will have it back together better than ever when the time is right.

Since I wasn't able to make the convention, I am curious to know how the 6 speed held up to the passes you made before the pump went. Seems like everything was fine getting the power to the ground on the track? The stacks and vlsd held up fine during the launches? I would still eventually like to do this swap and with power being several hundred HP less than yours it seems like it would be the end of my transmission woes.

The 6 speed was the least of my worries. My 60's were 1.777, 1.64, and 1.64. The pass against the mazworx gtir I no lift shifted every gear. At summit (better track) It had no problem putting the power down after 2nd gear. I was running too much boost in 1st and 2nd though. 3rd and 4th were all grip and go. Other than losing a shifter cable clip on the transmission on my 2nd pass at Summit, all was good. But i think i had the wrong clip on there but not sure. I found a clip that worked and made the pass on Saturday without issues.

I cant be happier with the 6 speed swap. I know some will say it was only a couple runs and blah blah blah but it took a few street pulls all the way through 5th gear hitting the gears hard without problems either and then the 3 at the track and all 45 dyno pulls in 4th. So not bad if I dont say so myself.

Maybe Mazworx should just ditch the awd on the gtir and put a 6 speed in there and quit having to worry about blowing up cases, bell housings, diffs, gearsets.

I talke to Driveshaft Shop about having some 5.9 series axles made for this trans using b13 hubs bored out and resplined for their custom larger outer CV's. $1900 for the set. This is something I definitely have planned to do. Preloading helps though. Remember, im still on stock oem b13 outer cv joints mated to my spec axles.

I preload hard every time and it just pounces off the line with no instant shock to the driveline

So I think what im gonna do when I get back after another year is go to a 2.2 90mm bore, stock stroke, 9:1 compression and have mazworx do a full number on the block. Full cleaning, oil passaged, oil passage plugs, freeze plugs, full main studs, line hone, brand new oil pump decked to match and have the head really worked over with Supertech valves and so on.

That should help get the turbo spooled up good and move the powerband down a bit and can keep the revs to 9500 or so and below. It will give a good solid comparison from a 2L and 2.2L motor and with headwork.

So the car is all packed away tucked into the garage. It will be back and even better than before.
