Thread: My radiator thread. Project Tight Fit complete!

I need a radiator for the B14. The problem is, they all seem to get too close to the manifold. And that causes problems.

I want to fit a Koyo, or a Mishimoto radiator. But I need a solution to the issues I face. So, as always, I come to you guys for inspiration for the project.

This is Cliff's car. The setup moves the radiator forward and ditches the factory mount pieces for the headlights. Now I planned on getting new headlights, so is this the route I need to go? What do I need to get this sort of setup done. Cliff, your input is appreciated.

Now, going that route ditches the upper rad support. So I will need a hold down for the hood in the form of some hood pins. But I figured while I was in there I might as well get an EVO style hood from VIS. I hate the rice factor, but I need a hood vent.

So, what ya guys got? Open to all suggestions really. Pics are very welcome.

Or, just do what I did. I ditched the stock radiator for a half-size 2"core aluminum radiator. Sits on the driver's side, and leaves all kinds of room for turbo, WG, dump tube, etc.. Plus, I didn't have to cut the radiator support or anything else.

+1 never ben a fan of no upper rad support unless its a track only car.

I run a civic half sized but I cut my support for the turbo

I made the upper radiator support removable. It now bolts in place but I ditched the hood latch. I am using aerocatch locking hood pins. My manifold sits about a 1/4 away from the koyo radiator. I like the half radiator but I doubt it would work in the summer heat where I live.

Do the B14s have less room than the B13s?

Not sure, but I think there is a little more room in a B13. At least the one I sourced some parts off of seemed like it.

Here is how I have mine setup. The radiator is actually for a manual trans Civic. I went and measured what space I had under the hood, and searched for a radiator that fit that size. As far as keeping things cool, it's done a fantastic job. There have been several 90+ degree days so far, and the temp gauge rarely got up high enough to kick the fan on. About the only time the fan comes on is when sitting at idle for a period of time. I made sure to go with a 2" core minimum, since I was using a half size radiator. I do remember seeing 3" core too. I have it zip-tied for now, until I can fab up a permanent mount. This way, I didn't have to cut anything, and retained the stock hood latch.

i always wanted to run a civic radiator, cut the inlet and reweld it to the side so i can just run a long hose ith a 90degree at the end.
