mike, i upgraded to the s3ms few months ago and I noticed a slight difference, but I actually regret doing so. One of my rockers threw the first time during racing/2nd time two rockers broke and scraped one of the cams. At both times, the shims broke and needed to be replaced.
I have come to realize the gtir head is garbage and really can't be pressured compared to other sr20 heads. I would really suggest you to upgrade to the sr20ve head if you can afford it. If not, and you want to still go through with the s3ms, shift at a lower rpm like 7500 (I was shifting at 7900) I've gone sr20ve entirely now so wont have to worry about these issues.
