theres not alot of accurate information regarding holset and oiling on my de i ran no restrictor with a -4 line and never had any smoking issues but my de has very low oil pressure. some say they run no restrictor on the dodge trucks and that those trucks put out around 75 psi (dont quote me) oil pressure. the ve puts out a lot more oil pressure but im not sure how the turbo would respond to it. just make sure you have a good flowing return
if you use the stock exhaust holset housing unlike me you have the benefit to go twin scroll if you can fab your own manifold. from my research twin scroll really helps alot with spooling esp on bigger turbos.
