Thread: Can this valve be removed or bridged?

I removed it and the motor wouldnt stop idling up and down. drove me nuts trying to figure it out. put it back in and it idled perfectly smooth.

Mine went bad a few years ago, AndreasMiko has them for a good price.

While mine was down I put a PVC shut off valve with 2 3/8s brass fittings on the ends. Then connected one end to the pre-throttle pipe and the other end to the intake mani. Then adjusted it depending on the temps outside. This is easier than messing with the throttle screw, and having hold the gas pedal to get the car to start. The car does idle higher than normal once the car warms up though.

And you are messing with your tune every time you do that as well.

I'm currently not running any of that on my gtir swap. It starts u just have to help it idle for a second.

Nope and that was past tense

Those valves are on ebay and rock auto and stuff off and on for super cheap. $35-$50, or find someone selling one. You really need it as it is the on off for idle, you will quickly get annoyed at trying to hold the throttle part open all the time. It isn't just for warm up, it provides ALL air when the TB is closed, which means braking, deceleration and idle.
