Thread: Can this valve be removed or bridged?

A picture it's better to show you which one



After doing a boost leak test we find out that all of these hoses were leaking a lot, so I decided to replace them with new ones (goodyear heater hose) with new clamps.


After putting everything back, did another leak test and find out that this valve leaks exactly in the middle...

Can be this bridged or removed without affecting anything else?

That valve controls your cold start idle. It closes as you engine warms. Wouldn't be a good thing to delete. IDK if it's even possible?

So the worst it could happen is that you got to step on your gas pedal for a while until it warms?

Maybe someone has done it in the past and can share results with us.

I don't like leaks at all

not sure if your engine will idle or idle well without it, you might be able to get away with the giving the engine throttle until warm.

you might also need to crack the throttle open and reset the tps and idle, to get a solid idle without the iacv valve.

it does serve a great purpose and would make life easy keeping it. if you can

IACV stays, I am only thinking in removing this cold start idle valve...

I might need to do boost leaks but now with a warm engine and key open to see how much does it leaks at 15 psi

that idle stuff is all bs anyways. Mine starts and idles just fine on nothing but ...well fuel and air.

Correct. The engine also might have a little trouble starting in sub-zero temps.

And the fast idle when cold will no longer happen, so the engine will take longer to get up to operating temps if idling.

It's not ideal to remove, but plenty of people go without one.

Well maybe yours has a bad gasket on it. If you look where it's sandwiched together there is a paper gasket just like on the IACV where it bolts to the mani. You could try replacing the unit itself, or the gasket if you want to keep it in the long run for conveniences' sake. Yours must have seen its better days. They come on SRs from the factory, boosted or not. I'd keep it, but like many things that come stock, we either mod or delet anyway, lol. Good luck man.

also if it takes longer for the car to warm up you will be in the warm up enrichment longer which means you will be wasteing gas.
