What I am saying is the 35R is overkill for your goals on the street. Smaller turbo cars will be faster all day.

You have tons of options for motor combo's. It just comes down to how much you want to spend. There is no "right" combination.

If you are set on using the gti-r manifold use a smaller T2 turbo. Don't waste time using a T3 flange on it. Having the right combination of parts for you HP goal is what will make the car in the end.

I would say for you goal and parts already in hand:

-Run DET or VET pistons
-DET rods
-VET or other metal headgasket
-Nice set of headstuds
-4cw crank (since you have a VE motor already I assume)
-Girdle
-Gti-r manifold with a GT2871R
-Stock cams

That should put you around 300-340Hp @ 15psi on most dynos

t3 frames are nice, but imo they are a overkill on a setup that doesnt really need the use of the t3 to make the power goals at hand. the gt30r with the t2 flange imo is a bottle neck.

not becuase i run the 2871r, but it is a really great turbo, it has great ratings, makes great power, and is damn near perfect for 350-400whp depending on the setup, and its useable power too.

so whats the smallest turbo i can use with the 20v cams, i went outta my way to get them and if i have to make 400whp and baby the throttle then so be it other than that i'll put them in storage

Those pistons are not up to the task of 400whp. Id wait till you get some cps or weiscos.

The ring lands will be the first to go.

Take care of that then move foward.

@stratton: as in if i get the det or the vet at ~9:1, it wont handle 450whp?

Stock ve pistons will not handle it.

Aftermarket turbo pistons will.

I read in ur first post you were gonna use stock ve pistons.
