Changing from the stock" log" to a shorty header is worth 20 to 40 horsepower depending on the size of your engine and is the single most important change you can make to the Ford FE engine if you want to improve performance or gas mileage.

thanks i just found out that i need to sell my intercoller setup and get a side mount setup wtf

Vadim you didnt read that link correctly. They dynoed with the log untuned pretty much tuned it a lil bit. Then they swapped manifold and fine tuned it. Just swapping manifolds doesnt give you the results you see there.

No sir, I read it correctly. Here let me quote some...
When we took it to the dyno for tuning all we could get out of the car at the wastegate pressure of 12.8 psi (0.9 kg/cm^2) was 300whp. I tried different AFR's and timing values but they yeilded no change. The setup simply would not make more than 300whp @ 12.8 psi.


Trying different AFR's and Timing values = Tuning = fine tuning.

Cost wise a log is probably best way to go, but just bear in mind that it will probably flow similar to the restrictive stock manifold.

i like log manifolds personally, i havent really seen the restrictivness of them on my current setup, tubular manifolds are superior over log, but there are some benifits to the log manifold.

umm why... i dont think i have even seen anyone running these on our cars

On our motors log manifolds spool 100rpm sooner then tubular. On others, it can be 300rpm or higher.

You guys can justify your log manifolds all you want, but I can tell you it is way off. The main point of tubular manifolds and equal length is for spool characteristics. Faster spool and more power with a wider power band. They support bigger turbos and more horsepower where a log manifold will eventually hit a wall. I had three log setups before going tubular and will never go back.
