GT2871R fitment
I searched for a while, couldn't find a definitive answer. A GT2871R w/ 3" inlet on a gti-r manifold, does the block have to be ground down to get the turbo/manifold to bolt to the engine, or to be able to put the coupler on the turbo once mounted? Anyone have pictures of one mounted?

I ran a exrta exhaust flange. Even with grinding it didnt fit a coupling. This was the biggest 718r they sell.

Stratton.

You will have to grind the block down in order for it to fit like the way you want it to. I am

currently running a GT2871R with a GTiR manifold on my Pulsar and the block is ground

down in order for it to clear. Just grind the block and you won't have any issues.

strange..so what did you do if you couldn't fit a coupler on the inlet?

Take the manifold to a machine shop and get the turbo flange milled downed. It will then fit with little grinding to the block

^^^^ this. Have the flange milled at a slight angle and you will not need to grind the block at all. You could also get a 3071r housing and call it a day. i have a extra 3071r housing with the 2.75" inlet that clears the block. 2871r and 3071r use the same compressor wheel.

So the T04E fits without shaving the block but the T04B doesn't?

Yeah the Gti-R manifold puts a 3" inlet at a wierd angle. Or any inlet besides the gti-r turbo really.

the 2.75" inlet will clear the block but the 3" inlet will require grinding.
