The Gti-R puts the turbo in a different position then the Avenir. It sits out more from the block to clear the bigger turbo. IIRC it also pushes it down a bit and that makes the intakes line up wierd when you go from a Avenir or Bluebird mani to a GTi-R.

With the Avenir manifold and a Big big t2 turbo your gonna have to grind the block a bit to get it to clear the block. I just did this on my new block an hour ago and it takes about 30 mins of grinding and test fitting to get it right. But a big t2 will work on an Avenir manifold and make power. My intake side is bigger then a GT2871r and it still will clear with grinding. Just an FYI

Also with any turbo pointed down on a B chassis your gonna have to at least go with a solid front mount. I think my t25 fit with the stock mount though. I may have had to grind it a lil in my b13. Nothing serious though.

I didn't have any problems with an Avenir manifold and GTiR turbo, the clearance came close though.

Here you can see where it's coming close to touching the block.

Know also that pointing the tubro up will give you more clearance as the compressor housing gets thicker the more you point it down and gets you close to the block. But with it pointed down you have WAY less intercooler piping...

I was able to fit the 3071r turbo on the gti-r manifold without much issues.

not at all, the GTI-R manifold is supposed to be quite a bit better for flow or whatever also.

Yup, my turbo is actually down. The last picture, with turbo outlet up, was the only one that showed the possible clearance issues.

first off, thanks for all the info guys! this is a good manifold thread for others to referance in the future i think.

second- so im vadim, but your post confuses me slightly. JW says pointing it up will give you more clearance, but you say with the turbo outlet up was the only way that it DID show clearance problems??? little confused.

and how close does the turbo come to the hood with the ebay topmount log manifolds?
