Yes they can. No one said they had to keep their downpipe. Sell it to someone else.

Maybe VRS is worried they'd cannibalize sales of downpipes? And they were hoping to increase sales of downpipes, not hurt them?

I think something from the turbo to the cat is really the best option. It solves so many problems, and should only raise the price of materials a bit. Cost of labor might even go down.


A j-pipe only replacement could work, but you can't sell one to everyone. You'd have a fragmented market. The T25 and GT25/GT28 guys are different from the T28 guys. If you could get fifty T25/GT25/GT28 guys then I guess you'd be all set.

What you need a is a rwd jpipe(divorced) for vrs to look at then make a fwd copy. The v band flange makes things easier but for a group buy you would want the stock flange. Personally I would have the whole thing made like I did.

What sucks is my manifold is a tubular and a regular downpipe dosn't work. So I have to make my own, thats why I figured just the 02 housings.

it would be a easy build since they already make a down pipe they would just need to make a o2 housing with a v band flange.

Send it to vrs or asp. Have them make a custom unit. the whole reason I had mine made was due to a custom el manifold not working with the stock down pipe. I did not want to cut up the down pipe to work so I had chuck made the unit shown.

Yah, you just need a one-off man. You don't need to tackle the j-pipe replacement madness. It's not worth it.

Well I can use the 02 housing. I just need to change my downpipe, having it a little deeper before it bends.

Okay well good luck. Depending on how they design their jig, they could accommodate both T25 and T28 people (universal flange for turbo side and just clock the downpipe flange accordingly). Doing a non-divorced version seems infinitely easier to design, build and install than a divorced one. The divorced just gives you a bit more performance. Not worth the hair pulling for VRS I bet though.

I like that idea with the v band flange its way better than the triangle 3 bolt flange that we have already from stock. The v band also clears a lot of room around it to work more comfortably in the area. Just my .02. ;-)
