i dont really see the gain from having the 3'' if its not going to go to the tb to intercooler, i dont see it hurting anything, but i also dont see the gain from it

Not looking for any gains, Problem is the MAF adapter has to utilize 3" and im trying to weld this into my intercooler piping to eliminate all the couplers and clean up the install. ( 1 pipe from TB to Intercooler )

Like this :

Using this adaptor

But this needs to be in 3 inch. If if still have to attach with couplers I really gain nothing. Now if I could go 3 inch from TB to after the sensor then step it to 2.5 that would be great. But dont wanna hurt performance.

Starting to sound like its not gonna be a feasible task. Planned on 2.5 piping throughout. Would be nice for it to work though.

FUNCTION OVER Fashion no matter what but this as one solid pipe if possible all metal from TB to Intercooler would look clean.

Having the 3" before the MAF batter more then after the MAF. Same goes with bends, have it smooth before MAF do what ever you want after.

The MAFs are sensitive to any disruption in air flow. Before or after the MAF any interruption in the flow of air current can cause issues.

When I first made my FMIC set up I had the recirc valve/BOV dump air a few inches after the MAF. It played all kinds of havoc on the way the car ran. I moved the fitting for the dumping air and all was well again.

You can find or even make reducer cones to fit to the ends of that metal MAF. Just keep the reduction gradual, don't go from three inches to 2 inches all at once, or if you do keep the reduction 6 inches (or the best you can) away from the MAF body.

Vadim,

I was thinking TB =======MAF======----------BOV-- here it would go down thru body & would go into the intercooler as 2.5
................................ 3"................. 3" tapering to 2.5"

Maf would be around 12" from TB then BOV 6" further away from MAF. ( I believe these are proper distances )

( using something like this off the maf )

So basically the same as in the pic I posted where comes off the maf it stay 3" for a tad then start to taper to 2.5 and
complete as 2.5 to the intercooler.

Is this feasible or just too much work to have a nice clean piping setup?

Yup that sounds good. Here is how I plan on doing my setup: Intercooler --- BOV --- 3" diameter 6-10" long -- MAF --- 3" to the throttle body

Cool how far should the maf be from the throttle body?

Would any of you guys be intrerested in those CNC MAF boxes that can be welded to the piping for blow-thru setups?

Ive been talking to the maker "turbotank" and they are not being made but if I can get 10 orders pre-paid $76 shipped he will make a run of them. Id love to get one made.

If you guys are interested im going to put together a group buy.

12" Should be it, since that's about how far the stock OEM MAF is located it.
