running stupid rich any ideas?
ok so i have a stupid ass problem, the other day i was driving my car and it was running fine, i went out today and its running stupid rich its not missing becuase when i rev the car at say 3k rpm the engine is smooth and doesnt miss or sound like a boxer engine.

its like smoking rich, which i dont get, ive checked like everything and cant think of what it could be.

the spark plugs are obviously fouled out now, but im weary about replacing the spark plugs again fearing they will just foul out again.

any suggestions

You are runnign an AEM right? so faulty MAF, or faulty MAF conection is out of the question right?

yeah, i just went out and bought new spark plugs and they fouled them right off the bat god thing they are cheap.

yeah im running a map sensor so bad maf would be out of the question.

i dont have a laptop to check the software which would let me check all the sensors to see how they are working so its like i have to quess.

im thinking maybe its a faulty collant temp sensor but not sure

Is your FRP vacuum line hooked up and in good condition?

not sure of the condition of the fpr, it has around 10k on it. im at 3 bar and it show the correct FP with the key on and engine off and say the correct fp with the engine on.

it also shows 3 bar when i pull the vacuum line would you say that the fpr is safe to say its good?

its craqzy becuase i was driving it the other day with no issues,

from what ive gathered it has recent become harder to start like need throttle or it kinda stumbles and after you give it gas it sustains idle. now it has comepletely gone rich would you say the Coolant temp sensor, although my cts is only about 3k miles old if that but its just a autozone cts so i donno

If fuel pressure is down to about 2.3 bar while idling then I'd say it's not the cause of your trouble.

the spark plugs are completely carbon fouled.

the car completely dies out if i unplug the cts is that normal i forget?

im getting near 40psi of fuel pressure with the engine on too high?

i was able to get into the aem software and all of my sensors like the , tps, map, coolant temp and the air intake temp sensor looks to be all good. so im thinking this has to be a mechanical problem somewhere.

do you guys think this could be a clogged fuel filter?

when the car is cold it seems to run good, then when the car starts to heat up it seems like it gets richer and richer. i thought it might be the coolant temp sensor, but it is fine, i also thought the map sensor

the only things i can think of are the fuel pump, fuel filter, and the fuel pressure regulator. it seems somewhere its getting too much fuel.

the only problem i am thinking is that if it was a bad fel filter wouldnt it restrict the flow of fuel? im seeming to get a rich condition so doesnt that contridict itsself if it were a fuel flter problem? i havent ever ran into a clogged fuel filter problem.

the same thing with a bad fuel pump wouldnt i be getting restricted flow of fuel?

the thing about the fuel pressure regulator is that i am seeing proper fuel pressure both at idle and with the hose off. around 38psi at idle

so all those seem to contridict a excessive fuel problem i dono

boost leak?

as you said, filter would clog and restrict= lean, pump dies and cant pump=lean, fpr fails and lets in to much fuel=rich?

did it throw a code when you unplugged the CTS and it died?
