High rev turbo build questions
Hey, i've got a nx2k with an SR20DET in it.
It'll be a high hp/high rev build.. plus or minus 400 hopefully. I'm upgrading to t3/t4 turbo with a .63a/r hot side, .70a/r cold, 750cc injectors, and my ecu will be tuned with nismotronic.
i'm looking to safely be able to rev to 8000-8500rpm.
I have Brian Crower 272 stage 3 cams, BC springs and retainers, stock valves, and new valve stem seals.
Now I just need to address the rocker arm issue. I'd like to just get tomei solid lifters, but they're a bit out of my price range right now. I've been told to look into rocker arm stoppers instead, but don't know a whole lot about them yet. How high can I safely rev with those? I've read about them breaking stuff in the head at high rpm and bending valves.. has anyone experience that? Are they a pretty bad idea? Are there any other cheaper alternatives to solid lifters?
Is there anything else I'm forgetting in my build?

Will I have power with this setup close to my desired redline?

Any thoughts will be appreciated.
Thanks
Garrett

Avoid the R.A.S. It will be a lot easier replacing a rocker arm than a bent valve.

Start saving for the HKS or Tomei solid lifters. Tho 400hp should be easy to get too @ 7k or 7500.

Ok, thanks. That's what I've been reading. Any idea how high I can rev with just the cams and S&R's?
What about valve float, what rpm will that become a danger?
So basically, is the only safe way to get to 8500 rpm converting to solid lifters?
What about those, they don't pose any threats like the RAS does right?

That's what im thinking is the best decision right now.
If get the solid lifters, I will need to go through the process of getting tester shims to measure the clearance between the cam and rocker arm, then ordering new shims from tomei/HKS that are to spec right?
And I can use the factory rocker arms correct?

I'd have to ask my friend, he runs the HKS lifters on his drag car. They rev the motor to 9k all the time.

Alright cool, that would be helpful. 9k would be pretty awesome.. doubt it would be very practical in my case though with my size turbo.
Thanks

My setup with BC3 272's that saw 8500 and rev limiter bouncing:

BC valvesprings and retainers with BC stg 3 272 deg. cams.
Supertech valves.

That's it. I even used hydraulic lifters. NEVER an issue with valvetrain.

For solid lifters, you may as well get GTiR solid lifters, they'd be cheaper to obtain than HKS or Tomei solid lifters.

My setup consists of Jwt C2 cams which are even larger than the 272's. BC springs w/ Titanium retainers, twin grooved shim mod, and sees an 8700rpm rev limiter. 6400 rpm two step and havent popped a rocker yet. Oh and also using the RR hydraulic lifters. To me its reliable and should be able to go well past 9k as well but I didnt feel like risking it. I was making power all the way to 8700 rpm and it would have still climbed.

Wow, that's pretty impressive.

So the GTiR came with solid lifters? Didn't know that. I'll look into those.
I will still need to go through the process of measuring test shims and getting the right sized ones and all that fun stuff right?
