Thread: new to turbo

i have just aquired a t25 turbo setup and i have a sr20ve. what kinda power can i expect from this turbo? i will be DD this and not lookin to blow anything

The safe max limit is somewhere around 275 WHP with that turbo on a common setup.

Don't install the turbo on your DD.

I'd suggest owning or at least having access to another car if you go turbo. If anything, for winter driving.

Nothing wrong w/DD'n a turbo car in general. I did it for about a year. I've actually not had 1 major problem w/my car since I turbo'd it.

Just do it right the first time and don't build cheap.

I have to agree. The potential for being without a car for long periods of time during the install means stress levels can get real high and money can fly out the window quickly unless you have something else to fall back on.

Once everything is completed and going well, you can go back to DD duty with the turbo car even in the winter in my opinion.

x3 I'd wait until I had another car. That's what I woulda done if I could go back.

But, then again, you could easily get everything installed and tuned on a weekend and prove me wrong and drive it daily for years. I just wouldn't take that chance again.

Also, how long have you been driving with the VE? If you got bored in a short amount of time wouldn't you be bored with a t25 after some time? Having a stock car around makes stress levels go down.

i have been driving my ve around for 7 months and yes im boared of it, im used to driving around a 67 pontiac with a big block chevy doin 11's all motor 93 octane all day and this is a big down grade for me but the sentra is fun on the highway. theres always room for more power in my book but if somthing goes wrong with the turbo i will just slap back on my all motor set up if not id look into just getting some headwork done and gettin cams and do the all motor thing but just curious never had anything with a tiny turbo so this is new to me.

Speaking of small turbos, I've always thought the T25 and T28 were too small for the VE. Engines seem to be most happy when you double their N/A output with a turbo. Less than that and I feel like the engine isn't happy, usually due to high exhaust back-pressure. The smallest I'd go on the VE is a GT28xx turbo and I'd try to make at least 340 WHP.

id leave her as she is now.

stock ve's arent as strong as de's. t25's create alot of heat wich will dercrease the longevity of your motor.

if you wanna go ve+t id recommend a build, and if you dont want to build, go de+t.

thats my honest advice.
