msd box
Im looking at installing an msd box and msd coil and had a few questions, im running a gtir motor.
So to start with does the msd coil replace the stock ignitior chip, and can i run stock distributor with the msd box or do i need to buy a aftermarket one and if so where can i get one? thanks for the help.

msd coil Does not replace the stock igniter. You can use stock dizzy if its b13 if it is a b14 you need to modify it.

msd coil replaces the coil not the little black box (igniter). the box increases the voltage etc to the dizzy so that you get more spark energy.

thanx i got it now, i was confusing the external coil as being the ignitor chip lol. So i think i got it. Msd box goes in between coil and ignitor chip and msd coil replace the stock coil.

nope.

take the plug off of the stock coil.

This plug - 2 wires go into MSD box.

2 wires come out of MSD box and go into stock coil or after market coil. its thats simple.

Now if you want to do this without any cutting, go to the junk yard and get the male and female plugs from the fans off of a 91-94 SER. These plugs are the same like the plugs from harness and coil and the guage is big enought to handle the current.

Join the MSD in wires to the fan plug so that it plugs into the harnes and then join the other plug to the out on the MSD box so that it plugs into the coil.

If you use an aftermarket coil then all you have to do is run the out wires directly to the MSD sftermarket coil.

Simple as that.

MSD in from harness to box is ( Red ) key ignition and ( Whire ) signal wire

MSD out to coil are ( black ) negative and ( orange ) positive.
