I just got off the phone with Jeff Amann. He owns Turbo Auto in Nashville and I talked to him about turbo options. He said the hx35 is going to be overkill and he suggested I get a GT2871r and I should be able to hit 400whp easily. He also seems positive an SR20DET will not hold 400whp on the stock bottom end. I'm getting all kinds of mixed information and I'd like to know facts. Using common sense, I see the SR bottom end holding 400whp, but maybe not reliably. After a couple months I could see it destroying itself, especially after launching at the track and hard acceleration on the street. I want to know what YOU guys think would be the best options for making a reliable 400whp engine, because the sr20 community usually knows what they're talking about.

That guy might know about turbo's but he sure doesn't know more about SR20 than this community and community experience says that the DET will hold 400whp.

400whp is not a big deal on a stock de or det. I know of people who have run for years on stock de and det's at that power level.

awesome, that's what i wanted to hear. I think when I do this I'm going to pull the engine and put bearings in it, vet headgasket, golden eagle b16 head studs, and maybe a new oil pump. Just trying to be on the safe side. I don't want to take any shortcuts.

Will - Would an sc61 just bolt up without any kind of modifications to make it fit? They're about the same price as a rebuilt HX35 if you get the journal bearing.

If the protech log manifold is flanged properly, it will fit no problem. I do think the 2871R is a better choice though, and will fit on a GTI-R manifold.

your trans will pop before the motor does.

You have asked the same question atleast 5 times and everyone has given you good answers (mostly the same) from their experience not some guy who doesnt know our cars

I garuntee i can get a bone stock de to last and make 400hp when it needs to. 400hp isnt all its cracked up to be, its useless on the streets its only fun on the highway. Nobody will believe you when you say you have a 400hp sentra anyway

exactly. You won't get traction till 4th gear anyway, so how much of 400whp can you actually use on the street? for that matter, you can't even use 300whp on the street. I have shitty tires but still, I can't hook till 4th gear, which is like 95mph+.

Have you ever driven a 300whp fwd car? I have a feeling you will be surprised.

No I've never driven a 250+ whp car. Just my dinky little 92 SE-R with an avenir motor. With my S4 cams I used to spin through 2nd but now it just chirps a little. Anyways... I <3 you guys...and I <3 sr20-forum. All I need is money now. I think I'm going to say screw the hx35 now and run a 2871r or a sc61. Depends on moneys I guess.
