I built the super sentra while going to school and working 1 ft and a pt job. 18-20 credits a semester while working 50-60hrs a week. I survived though, and received 3 BS degrees in Automotive, business, and tech sales. Graduated in Dec 09. A lot of hard work paid off and I have a great job now. I'm not making a million bucks, but i enjoy it.

If I were you I would keep the DET as-is and just throw on a manifold/turbo combo with a larger inj/maf. Maybe upgrade intercoolers. You will make 400whp rather easily. 20-25psi boost.

It all sounds good to me .....if I was in school I would deffently concetrate on that ....and keep the car building simple and cheap

do you know what your injector options are? you will spend a ton on sidefeeds to use your stock rail and nismo fpr, or you can get a new rail, top feed injectors, and solder in resistors for them. Either way you are looking at 500 plus for the injectors set up.

I know top feed injectors are cheaper, but yes, I'd have to upgrade rails and get a different FPR which would come out to about the same price anyways. If I get side feeds, I have the option to run 4 bar fuel pressure. MSD top feeds don't like 4 bar. I've read top feed injectors don't really make a difference until you are making crazy power, so until I'm going for 500+ whp, then I don't care to upgrade.

On a different note, I think I've decided to sell the VE head and build the DET so I can run a cheaper log manifold. I don't know if I can trust the stock DET internals up to 400whp and 20 - 25psi. I thought the head gasket would blow at about 20 psi. Any personal experiences? I'd like to know whether I need forged pistons and rods. Remember I'd like this to be reliable.

you do not need to build a DE or DET for 400whp, they already have forged rods, you are better off not opening the motor up at all, IMO

good start, don't forget the clutch, it will be an issue I promise. I don't know anything about those turbos.

I already hate this clutch. It's likes to slip then all of a sudden grab and jerk and nearly kill the engine. Guess that's what you get when you buy a 180 dollar 6-puck. ACT is what I'm going to buy with a homemade tranny saver bracket. Turbo is supposed to be extremely similar to a 3076r

get a det
slap that turbo on with supporting mods (you dont need that big of an injector and not to many programs are out there for it)
and you will be there

you are over thinking this way to much. A stock det with a good manifold and turbo is all you need.
