Sounds like you really had the best results with either the stock cams or VET cams. And the compressor on an HX35 is fairly similar to a 3076r. But from what I read and the videos I watched, HX35s spool faster. I just want to hit 400whp.

So the ram horn manifold is a good idea. Only problem is I don't have any fabrication skills, and would probably totally destroy it if I attempted it myself. Would your average performance shop weld the manifold for me and mount the turbo in the correct spot? Would this cost some outrageous price?

If you have a shop do it, your looking at a MINIMUM of $30-45 per hour for labor. Plus the cost of materials. And stainless isn't cheap. Plus, if they tig weld it, tig takes a while. $$$

Not trying to discourage you at all, just giving you a heads-up.

You know what is also over-rated?

Sentras are.

The people that are telling you to focus on school are telling you that for a reason. Trust me you'll regret no to have focused.

I want a corvette getter. School is cool and everything, but the majority of the time my teacher isn't teaching and we are just chillin'. If I was able to do this project at school I'd actually have something to do and I'd get credit for it, too. Tennessee Technology Center at Murfreesboro is pretty low budget and we generally don't have much to do anyways...besides book work.

A VE-T with a log manifold will work just fine. It all depends on your power goals. We have made mid 400's with a 60-1 on a log manifold. Is it the best option? No but, they do work decent. If on a budget I would consider one. If money allows it then yes a tubular manifold is the better option.

My dudes car went 11.5 in the upper 120's. Car runs amazing for what it is.

Again is it the best option? No but, it works well.

Just some specs out there.

GT3076r 76mm compressor, 60mm turbine.
HX35 78mm and 60mm turbine
SC6169e (mid sized sc61) 82mm compressor, and 74mm turbine.
The 60-1 has the same 82mm compressor. Cant find turbine specs. but it has to be over 70mm. Very similar to the SC61.

Looking at turbines, the inducer of the HX35 is SMALLER than the exducer on the SC61. The SC61 is a huge t350 or t04 turbine wheel. It flows about the same as the GT35r turbine.

I know for a fact that the 60mm turbine is too small for the stock cams. I've tried it. And I also know that others have had decent results with the log manifold with big turbines. But I still wouldn't do it. VVL with a log is pointless. But a HUGE free-flowing turbine will work. The HX35 just isn't that big.

I've seen what backpressure does to the vvl and with high overlap cams. That's why turbo grind cams have less overlap. I feel like the sr16 cams will start to wake up with a larger GT35r turbo with the T350 turbine. The larger turbine will flow a ton better than the t31 will.

If you are shooting for only 400whp, the log manifold will necessitate a much larger turbo to reach your goals because the exhaust will choke. You will get reversion and choke the vvl. It took a lot of ppl on this forum to finally convince me to ditch the log and VET cams and go tubular with bigger cams. I did it and I would never go back. The tubular manifold will support smaller turbos with a lot less risk of reversion, and much better results. Just my .02
