Thread: bogging below 5k rpms

I have a 92' sentra with a bluebird motor. The problem that I am having is that under 5k rpms the car just bogs like hell. As soon as I hit 5k rpms however the engine clears up so much that it spins the tires loose in 2nd. It does this in every gear as well.

The funny thing about this problem though is that it did the same thing on my stock DE motor. It would bog until 5k and then go. If you advance the timing it helps with the problem.

My timing is definantley set correctly now though at 16*
Im pulling perfect vacuum at 20.
Spark Plugs are a nice golden brown
Cap Rotor and Wires are pretty new
MAF has been Regrounded
IACV has recently been cleaned and put back on with a new gasket
I do have my MBC set at 11psi but it was doing the same thing before

Where should I start with my problem?

Might want to check to make sure your timing chain is in the correct spot also. This has happened to me where the chain actually jumped a tooth on the exhaust cam.

It is certainly possible, but as I said it was doing the same thing with my old motor too. I want to start out with some easy things to check first... maybe it s a sensor thta i swapped over?

BTW I gapped my plugs down to .30, and the problem didnt change a bit

try gapping the plugs down to .28

I did just find out that the small vac line coming of the bootom of the tb was not hooked up to the small fitting on the charcoal canister so I will drive it and find out what happens after that.

Good job david for ragging your ride out. Bottom vacuum line that you are talking about wont affect your situation since you have perfect hg. I never ever have any problems b13 or b14. Check the maf ground again and coolant temp sensor.
