Thread: Big cams ..or VE head ...

I am running into another ? for my parts buying frenzy , I was wondering if I could use my Z32 / 72lb progam with a ve head or am I better off using a stadard de or det head that I already have to go with my bottem end I intend to build here in the next few weeks , to go along with my lovefab turbo manifod and hopefully o2 induction intake manifold ( after I figure out what head I am running ) ....it is looking like it will cost about the same no matter what I do ...I hate not being able to make up my mind ...

VE head FTW!

i say big cams with big head work = better than VE

does any body know if I can operate the VE on a standard JWT program , with a msd switch for the cams ...

i donno about that, there are great companies out there that could make the highport head flow more...

That's a complicated question. VE heads flow better but they can often use some clean up too. I'd stick a set of S4s in a de/det head with some cam gears and call it good... and i have a ve head sitting in my garage.

Selling it ??? I sold a set a few months ago , I am just thinking of buying a whole ve and taking the crank from my det and buying soe pistons and rods ...

Hmmm, the wonderful debate. I think the DE head is just fine. Sure you won't make really huge power, but it is easily had. VE turbos have given a lot of us a hard time as there is no real forumula for big power, except that the VE loves, LOVES big turbos.

it also has alot to do with getting everything to flow right as far as camshafts,springs,retianers ect, if you get the right cams for your build a de head can make just as good of power as any other heads out there..its all about piecing the motor together to flow together
