Let's convince my friend
So one of my friends and his father just bought a Datsun 510 wagon to make into a drag car, and he is looking at two different motor options; either a 13B from and older RX-7, or SR20.

I personally don't like rotarys that much, they just don't do it for me. He came at with me saying they don't weigh near as much as an SR, but I looked it up and an SR20 with all the accessories weighs actually less than a twin turbo 13B engine! I'm trying to convince him to do a budget DET build:

Cams
S&R
86mm Pistons (CP?)
Rods
Stock crank
Aftermarket Bearings
Upgraded studs and other hardware
Beefy Headgasket
Custom Intake Manifold
EL T4 Turbo Manifold
Borg Warner or Holset big ass turbo (cheap and big)

The goal is probably around 700whp. Help me convince him to go SR20! Remember this is a budget build up, otherwise I'd tell him to go 90mm pistons, sleeve the block, VE head etc..

Not sure I would choose either engine for 700 WHP to be honest, but the SR20 is gunna be way better than the 13B.

I think it's time to consider your 1UZ options.

I told him about the 1UZ tonight as well, they aren't much more in weight than an SR for the displacement increase. He just kinda ignored me; that's the engine I want to use on my 240SX so I know a bit about it.

I know, I showed him that video and he likes it. A bigger turbo will most likely be used though if he goes SR20.

How fast is he trying to go?

Deep 8's maybe high 7's. I think that OSR car could do a lot better than it did with a better launch and better shifting; it sounded kind of funny. I'm throwing out numbers higher than they will be shooting for on purpose.

Well u saw the other vid where they did the wheel stand off the line. I'm 100% that had something to do with the launch out of the hole. Only time will tell how fast the OSR 510 will go since it's only @ 24psi and the GT35R likes higher boost.
