Thread: will a rwd tubular manifold work with qr swap

Hey guys

for the people who have done the qr six speed swap has anyone used a rwd tubular manifold or is everyone running a top mount.

I want to know before i go ahead and order one that my turbo is going to clear the p12 bellhousing.

I am running a t3/t4 60 trim so its a decent size turbo. please let me know what setup you are using or if anyone has ran into problems running a rwd mani with a b13 tranny

the RWD manifold normally puts the turbo closer to the alternator and further from the trans. so i don't see it being a trans clearance issue.

Hmm really ? all the ones i have found the runners meet at #4 and the flange is right below.

The problem with the tubular rwd manifold is that they push the turbo out toward the radiator. You can cut and re weld the turboflange so it is angled in toward the block a bit instead of toward the radiator like they come. I have one on my nx and cut the turbo flange off angled it toward the block and re welded it. I also cut all of the runners off of the head flange shortened them and re welded all 4 runners back on.

The other option would be getting a custom radiator to fit where the a/c condensor sits from the factory. There are a few universal ones that would fit that summit or jegs sells, but they would need new inlet and outlet pipes welded on. The only draw back to this is you have less room in front of the radiator for an intercooler,fans, oil cooler etc....

I dont think trans clearance would be much of an issue. I could post some pics of what i had to do to mine, but i am running a subaru ihi ball bearing turbo which has a different flanges all together on it, i am also running a moded rwd greddy o2 housing and a custom businessman_24 downpipe that him and i made.

If you want to put on a set up that will require less modding i woud just go with a top mount log manifold. i was thinking of going this route but i am not a big fan of log manifolds, also i had a rwd mani and most of the other parts laying around anyway, so it didnt cost me much.

Well I cut another rwd manifold i had up to do the same and to change the angle of the flange but now I have been looking at more of a equal lenght manifold instead of the shorty style.

I would like to keep the oem rad as I hate when guys run a small half rad and or cut up the top rad support.
