16g turbo on a sr20de?
hey guys im a noob to the turbo seen....not like im a pro with N/A but just came across a really good offer( i think ).my friend is offering me his stock turbo off his evo ..he says its a 16g.....im not too sure if it is or not.....so in case it is....i was starting to do a little research and came across some answers although not everything was cleared up just yet.

here is the situation,he is waiting on him turbo upgrade to come in the mail so he will not be needing/using his stock one anymore.therefore he will be selling it.this is where i come into play haha .he offered it to me for 225(im not sure if its true but he claimed people sell them for more then this something like 500or so but he is not going to be asking that much for it.

my question is...... i know it wont bolt up to a stock bluebird mani.how about any other stock mani's which also fit the sr20 and this turbo(i don't know if there are any other mani's that work with no modification needed. like for hondas they can use a stock dsm mani and turbo with no problem.well is it the same with our cars(the sr20's?)

i did see some people saying that i can use a stock bluebird mani with simply getting a t25 flange welded on......do they mean cutting off the flange off the 16g turbo and just welding on a t25 in replace of it to be able to use the stock mani? if so is this going to be pricey? any idea who would be willing to do such a thing if it would be possible?he did offer me his mani also .would i just be able to use his stock mani/turbo instead of cutting anything and welding?

lmk guys any responses will be greatly appreciated

Cast iron is difficult to weld. It can be done though.

I'm not sure what the flange is on the 16g, but if it's a 4 bolt T2 flange, no worries. Your biggest problem will be clocking the housing, depending on how it's currently situated. If it's a T3 flange, you'll need a flange adapter in order to mate it to the T2 flanged manifold from a bluebird, or you'll need someone that can weld cast iron.

The manifold likely will not work, with little effort. You would likely either have to cut the flange that mates to the head and re-weld an SR20 flange on. That, and the way the manifold sits may be different, which wont allow for the turbine to sit in a proper location.

Isn't the evo turbo a twin scroll? I was gonna get an evo turbo and was told that I would need a custom mane for it cause of the way the turbo works. I may be wrong but you might want to check in to it a bit more. I was told it was more money than it's worth.

If it's a twin scroll turbine, you'd want a divided housing manifold to take advantage of it. I'm not sure either, but that CAN get pricey.

Your better off just finding a T28, and stock turbo SR manifold. All the time and money you are going to have to spend is not worth it at all.

I've got an SR manifold. I'll let it go cheap! (The wife may be pissed if she has to find it and pack it though )
