B14 Turbo project comming ....
Well I bought another great shape SR20 prowed car , and with that comes another ( smaller daily ) project , so know I am going to embark on a somewhat economical daily project . The car will see most of its minimal down time this winter when the snow is really bad and I am confined to the garage , I intend to run a JWT or a Calum ECU , with a stepdown OBD2 to 1 harness posibly another AEM , but budget being the concern I think the JWT or Calum is the way to go , I am thinking of running SC5557 or sc5857 , or possibly some kind of gt30r ( gt3071r or gt3076r ) but the billet wheels are cheaper in journal bearing , and any other smaller frame nice and resposive T3 turbo you can think of for a guy on budget , let me know , I think I am either going to buy a used log ( cheap ) and reflange the wastegate to accept the 44mm tial, or we are going to have fun and do a short ram stlye econo T3 manifold for it possibly a bottem mount that puts the turbo in the same spot as the GTI-r , so it can be flanged in either T2 or T3 , and be made for a external wastegate ,and non external wastegate apps but with budget being a priority , and as for cams , these days it seems like used VE heads are getting cheeper then used S4s or BC 2/3 's with S&R ....but I am not interested in duing a anther VE+T car , not at this point .......but we will see but I am pretty firm on that .......so any ideas you think would be great for the car let me know .....lets make this fun

this is what I have in mind

Looking for around 350whp+ daily
Stock DE ? if it dies I have a motor on the stad ready to take its place
cams ( not sure yet )
Trans will be the b14 till I can find a good deal on a P11 or a B15 box
it has a JWT pp and a B15 disc
and a JWT or Calum ECU
either 750 sidefeeds or 72lb topfeeds
a Z32 MAF ( if I stay Plug and play)
and of course a nice sized front mount and a 44mm external wastegate
and a few gauges to make sure she is running right
simlple lowering springs
and tinted windows

Imput appreciated

That's a small daily project? I would consider T25 setup that, T28 at most .

Suscribed to this one, I'm thinking along the same lines but if i absolouty must get somethig then i'll sacrifice and do it but other than that i'm looking for around 300 HP for my daily. But based on what i've seen especially in ben fenner's thread, the t28 might work well

Pfft.

2.4L stroker VE. Done. You don't need 350whp. You already have that.

Well I have alot of the parts already .....but the turbo I have is way to big for a daily , ( gt35r ) so it is going to be up for sale soon , I really just want a small T3 setup somthing like this .....
New Entry Level Turbos from Precision Turbo! - 502StreetScene

They are external wastegate , and I can probaly get an even better price on it , PTe has several turbos in this line now , with raitings from 460hp-610hp .....so this looks like a good pick to me , and I am already replacing the BOV on the NX ( going Tial ) and well that leaves me with a spare to be used here , and I have the intercooler as well , so piping is all that is needed there , the big money items are going to be eng. managment , relly not bad if I stick with a used JWT or somthing and the manifold , it can be made real cheap in a hurry if I just buy one of the used logs out there on the market and heck it will do just what I need it to .....it will take some time , but should be going by the spring if I put the time in I want nothing crazy just a simple turbo setup ....I would love to build a new style manifold ( meaning me working with Cody @ Lovefab on it ) but we see what it looks like cost wise , because for the #s I am looking at it is really not needed ......I could realy hit the power level I am looking at on 50lb or similar injectors as well ....I just picked the T3 turbo as it can be had New for faily litttle money ......

Eric, I got dibs on that GT35R remember! lol. No if you wanted, stay T2 with a GTiR manifold

and run a GT2871R on it and that will put you in the 350whp easy with a quick response.

I just so have my GT2871R that I'd be willing to trade with the GTiR manifold for the 35R...

Let me know.

The GT35r ....the reason it failed and I grabed the SC6262 was it had a casting flaw in it they assume and the oil did not drain and cooked the turbo in about 3 drives of the car , so tial is replaceing the cener section ( they are a garret service location ) for me at a reduced rate , I have just been busy and have not sent it out ....as I have not needed it yet , it is on the shelf @ Lovefab just chilling there , I was going to have the coating on the compressor removed if you wanted also .....so bassicly the turbo will be new minus the housings which are fine ....
