Another Clutch Thread
Well, I will be pulling my transmission soon to rebuild it (it's cheaper to stay in the game and fix the car then it is to lose money selling the car lol), and I need some opinions on a clutch setup.

I currently have the ACT Xtreme PP with their 6 puck unsprung disc. This setup is very harsh (which I don't care about), but I believe it had a lot to do with raping my B15 transmission on top of my shifting hard. I don't think the PP is bad, so basically I am wondering what clutch disc will be best? I want it to last a while and grab hard when engaged (maybe slipping on a hard shift though?).

I am running the SR16 flywheel and it's great, probably will need resurfaced but that's no big deal. Thanks guys!

Just a basic sprung disk. Keep the wheel hop in check at all times. Run heavy shockproof. You should get a better life from the new stacks.

What kind of torque are you making?

I'd guess 350wtq. Don't really know, never dynoed it. It will be the setup in my sig but @ 18-20psi.

As far as weight, don't know for sure either but probably around 2200lbs dry without me in it (I weigh about 150lbs so 2350-2400). There is no interior or any of the heavy bolt on crap (AC bracket, or tow hooks, or a spare, or a sound system whatsoever).

I guess I should add that I might be going externally gated so the torque will probably go up.

Lotta tq so clutch masters sprung 6 puck imo but if I were you I would listen to Coheed. You could almost get a away with less but your B15 tranny is stronger so I would not reccomend that you under-clutch the setup like I would with a stock B13 gearbox.

I don't want to go through another gearstack is the problem. I know the easiest way is shift easily, but if I'm at the track how does one do that and expect to run awesome times? I broke it on the street, and perhaps slicks at the track would have that extra give then street tires do.

Also, I have been told by local tuners that the shockproof doesn't lubricate very well, and isn't the best for transmissions... I might try what Ashton has been running. I was running the thinner version of the same stuff when this transmission went out.

Will a basic sprung disc handle 400wtq (overly optimistic with this number)? I plan on driving the crud out this car once it's fixed, and I need it to hold the power (I'm not talking slamming gears, but launching with lots of grip from a high rpm) but be somewhat forgiving.

My main concern is the street style basic discs slipping...

If I go sprung 6 puck, should I get the act or go with the clutchmasters while still using my current xtreme pp?

the sprung 6 puck act clutch is rated to 414lbft. I find that those number are on the conservative side. I will be running the xt pp with the six puck sprung disc on my vet setup. I am hoping to keep the torque around 400lbft. If this setup will not hold then I will switch to the cm stg 5 clutch. I am trying to stay away from unsprung due to shock load if I can help it.

RedDragun I would look into an 8-puck for your setup if I were you (maybe semi-metallic, maybe Kevlar although that can be annoying, maybe ceramic). But that might be hard to find. The easiest thing to do would be to get a sprung 6-puck ceramic. =/
I do like Cluchmasters over ACT even with the ACT PP.
