the deal with the arps is that it was determined that they used an inferior design (non-bottoming) with the regular sr20 stud (the gti-r arp stud however is bottoming). just about every other manufacturer of aftermarket head studs use a bottoming design. i don't see any problem with the cosworth studs. they've been building turbo engines longer than anybody and seem to manufacture well engineered parts.

in one respect to the aems, they were handling over 500whp. i dont find anythnig wrong with arp studs that arent looking to make that excessive horsepower.

Damn Keo thanks for summing it up for me Damn being in Iraq and on a time difference.

Rob, I figured if the block is sitting in my garage, with ARP studs currently on it, I had better pull them off and go with something else. I don't mind the whole OEM head stud setup, but I don't want to leave anything to chance.

EDIT: Just for clarification, as Keo mentioned, I'm going for 500~600whp. The turbine will only support me up to about 550whp, so we'll see.

I for one am going with OEM head studs. I will be purchasing them brandnew. We all know stock DET's and DE's are making well over 500whp all OEM and they are using stock head studs.

Thats why I said what I said in the PM I sent you.

turbo huh .

but yeah, ok tekkie your going for 500-600 id upgrade the head studs for sure. especially since the motor is apart.

IDK man, it was kinda spur of the moment, I guess. The turbo was going to be upgraded anyway. The bottom end, I really didn't wanna mess with. The more I thought about it though, I figured I might as well get it done to support that larger turbine.
