I actually took the cables off to check the shifting, and it does it at the transmission. Cables are not the issue. But it looks like 1, 3rd go in half way. Can't get 6th or reverse in. I've rebuilt a lot of transmissions, and this is my first RS6, but I don't think there was anything wrong with putting it together. I think one of the syncro hubs, or a couple, aren't mating with the syncro correctly. Once the car starts, the issue could go away.

I know sometimes the trans can be stiff to get into some gears when it is off. My p11 trans didn't want to go into 2nd unless the engine was running. Sometimes it would go in ok, but other times it felt the same... felt like it went in half-way.

My 6 speed does that sometimes, you just gotta go back and forth with it a couple times. But you should be able to select all the gears. Did you not check it before while you had it out if all the gears are going in right. Its simple to do just on the table. The cables as long as they are all connected and clipped in correctly then you shouldnt have shifting problems.

Again it will be like that with the engine off to where the gears seem like they only go in half way sometimes. Can move it back and forth a bit and it should eventually go all the way in. It has a completely different feel than the normal 5 speed trans. You will get used to it.

Well, with the clutch bled out the trans now shifts in all gears. Brakes are on, trans mount is done. New wheels are on, clutch pedal done and feels amazing.

You need a new bolt for the trans mount. It is an M10-1.25 and 100mm long. The calipers required new bolts as well. The only thing left is to hook up Ic piping and battery, fill the trans fluid. Maybe 3 hours of work left, and it should be done tonight. I can't wait to take it out for a spin.

Car started tonight for the first time in nearly 6 months. The car looks amazing with the new wheels and brakes. The brake pedal goes to the floor though, so more bleeding will be required.

The trans shifts into all gears, except reverse. The tires will spin backwards but the trans wont actually find the gear. When we were taking the gear stacks out my friend dropped the reverse shaft and the parts went everywhere. I put it together using the FSM as a reference, but perhaps something went wrong. The trans will need to be pulled and inspected to find the cause of the issue. Other than that, the whole thing is done. What a bummer about the trans issue though. I'll find out whats going on though.

This is the problem.

I think the insert spring is facing the wrong direction. No biggie. I'll pull the trans tomorrow morning and get it torn down. I may be able to get it back together saturday.

So whatever you do, if your reverse gears come apart, do the opposite of what I am doing in the picture lol. The open-mouthed part of that spring goes face down.

oh, and for the clutch pedal mounting, I took the pedal and traced the mounting point out on some cardboard. I then taped the cardboard up against the firewall from the inside so I could see exactly where to drill.

I added a couple washers behind the mounting to act as the new spacers. I would leave the spacers on the clutch pedal. It just feels better. Also, having the clutch pedal sit too far forward makes it hard to bleed the clutch because the clutch rod is slightly pushed in. This causes the ports in the cylinder to be closed off and makes gravity bleeding impossible. I cured this by disconnecting the rod from the pedal. After that, I let gravity do its thing and it turned out perfect! The clutch feels amazing.

Be real careful with the adjustment of the pushrod. You *must* (emphasis!) adjust the pushrod (rather than just reconnecting it) so that the fluid can gravity bleed and/or so you can compress the slave cylinder by hand and push fluid back into the res.

This is required because as the clutch wears, the fingers on the pressure plate move further out, this pushes the TOB back which pushes the top of the fork closer to the slave which will want to push fluid back into the res. If you can't compress the slave by hand so that it bottoms out and pushes the fluid into the res, then you need to adjust the rod. If you don't, (i'm sure you realise now what will happen) the clutch won't be fully engaged at some point in the future and it will happen very progressively until one day it will just feel like the clutch is slipping and you'll be thinking you've done a clutch already!

fixed! Exactly! Thanks for bringing that up, and I'm sure it will help others as well. I have adjusted the pedal to allow the ports to open and allow fluid to travel. This will allow the unit to self-adjust over time and to gravity bleed properly.

Got the trans torn down and what do ya know, the little springs were in backwards. So I pulled the shafts out with the help of my friend BEN and we put it in the right way.

Got the trans put together and it wouldn't go into any gear. WTF lol. Well, it turned out to be the 3rd shaft for the reverse gear was binding up a little bit so after putting it back together again and checking all the gears it finally works smoothly through all the gears. Don't know why it was such a pain, but it is good now... I think.

Put the trans in, so it is bolted to motor. Just gotta do everything else again. Intercooler, mounts etc. I also need to bleed the brakes again, seems there is still some air in the lines.

This shifter will take some getting used to lol. Took it out for a drive tonight. The car runs decent, but I didn't get into VVL. The gas is 6 month old race fuel.

Either the car has some better traction now, or the engine has cobwebs in it that need cleaning up lol.

The rear beam is a little larger, and the exhaust hits it now Seems to be an exhaust leak. The clutch is super beefy feeling, and after breaking it in should get better, the shifts seem notchy. Similar to the P11, but more... disconnected. The car will be getting some shifter upgrades to improve feel very soon.

I'm just happy to have the car on 4 wheels again. Now... on to the refinement. I want everything to be and feel as close to a factory Nissan as possible.

Pics coming real soon guys!
