Nope, fresh fluid. Expensive fluid. I'm tempted to throw in some stock gear oil or some of the 75w140 ashton is talking about. But I hate running GL5

My P12 trans is/was *BRAND NEW* when i put it in, and i get the same thing. Everything i used was brand new, cables, shifter, clutch, HLSD etc etc. I'm even runing a stock P12 clutch and dual mass flywheel still so i'm sure its not a disengagement problem. I rarely drive the car hard and i never flat shift it. To be honest i'm a little afraid of ripping it through some gears and grinding heavily.

I've run several different oils, everything from NEO PLATINUM (liquid fucking gold $$$) to Castrol VMX-80 and now i'm using Redline MT90. All with frequent change intervals (no more than 15,000km). Please let me know if you find something that smooths it out. I also suffer a bit from very stiff shifting when the car is cold (i start work quite early) and shifting 1-2 and 2-1 coming to an intersection i often have to double clutch a couple of times as i don't like to force it into gear. Once warm 2-1 engagement is fine.

BTW, all GL rated oils are corrosive to yellow metals (like brass and copper), its just the higher the GL rating the more "EP" (extreme pressure) additive is in them (which is good for protection) and its the EP additive that is causes the yellow metal wear.

Regarding the HLSD, wait till you drive it in the wet. The weirdest feeling is having the front end PUSHED INTO the turn by the outside wheel when the inside loses grip (assuming you don't get on the gas too hard, then both are gonna light up and its straight ahead understeer! ahha)

Coheed, try the 85w 140 Valvoline gear oil. Its like 2.99 a bottle i believe and it worked great. Again this is both on my old b13 trans and the spec v trans. You will still have some notchyness but the gears will still go in smooth as butter. Thats just the design of the trans for the notchyness part. But you should have any grinds especially when shifting slow. Try the oil and get back to me like I said. Its not too thick and not too thin.

I broke numerous 70 series transmissions before going with this advice and using 85w 140 (I get it free from work).

Since switching to this oil, I have had no breakages (touch wood)!

Im telling you. It has awesome cusioning properties and the only gripe which im sure with your heavy shockproof you will have stiff shifting when its cold. But this oil will not be nearly as stiff when cold as what your using but I bet you it has better cusioning properties and is not as thick and will make the shifts soo much better.

Thanks guys. I tried the valvoline today. It works better, and almost never grinds except when cold. It still has some crunchy synchro issues, but Im just gonna shift faster lol. It nearly disappears altogether when warm. If anything, the factory gear oil may be the best option for overall performance, but I'm gonna stick with this one for now. If I break the trans, I'll just get another gearstack set lol. But the drive home went without a hitch. Just the notchy gear shifts, which I'm just not used to.

But before I forget, there are a few people that helped make this swap possible, whose help was invaluable during the trials and tribulations of this endeavor.

Greg V, you helped get the ball rolling on this project, got flywheel made, got me tons of parts and helped me along the way. Thanks my man!

Andreas Miko, helped me vent frustrations during the process, and resolve issues that were unforseen. There's a reason I keep you on speed dial when I decide to do stupid stuff

Ashtonsser, thanks for all your insight with the swap as far as axles go. It sucks we weren't able to actually find the solution, but we are close! You have helped me with odd questions along the way and I appreciate it a lot.

Cozzm0AU, thanks for helping me out when you could with the slave cylinder. You have gone out of your way to make this swap possible for me, and you already shipped the slave cylinder before I'd even paid you for it. From one honest guy to another, thanks again!

Terry of Ken Garff Nissan Riverdale, for providing me with all the info for all the crazy questions I've had. This is the guy that led me in the direction for the p11 gearstack swap from the QG18! Thanks for all your time!
My Friends Erick, Ben, Luke, and Andrew, thanks for helping me out with all the extra hands. It's good to have some extra muscle when working on these cars, and as always, you guys are a blast to have around!

Thanks for everything guys! This car is a few steps of refinement away from being everything I had ever dreamed up. This swap could not have been possible without you guys, and I will continue my write-ups to help fulfill someone else's dreams and aspirations for their builds. Thanks everyone!

From the Utah Nissans Annual BBQ. The car was in pieces just 12hrs before this pic. And It still made the 100 mile trip there and back without any issues!

I just wanna go drive right now. The LSD pulls so hard through corners, it feels so crazy. It just whips you around bends, and you feel it fight you, and can tell it works. The VLSD felt good in its own right, but it didn't feel as connected as this.
